• Santa’s Promise
    By: Howard S.

Once there was a five year old boy whose name was John Troyer. He had ajet black hair, and dark black eyes. He was completely normal. Well, almost completely normal. He had a secret. No one knew his last name. It wasn’t Troyer but it was Clause, and it’s not just a coincidence that he has the same last name as Santa. Santa Clause is his father which meant his mom was Mrs Clause. Also, he’s never seen snow except on T.V and the movies. He’s never seen the North Pole either. His only two wishes in this world is to see snow and get to the North Pole. His dad Santa Clause promised John that one day he would see The North Pole and snow, but John never knew when or how.

It was 120 years later. John was 125 years old and had a family of a 90 year old son named Max and a wife named Elizabeth. They now lived in Berkley, Michigan. Santa was 160 years old and still had his wife. Santa said, “Son.” John replied, “Yes dad.” “You remember the promise I made you…This Christmas its coming true…my time of being Santa is over. When the clock strikes midnight on Christmas Eve, the minute before I die you have to put my hat on yourself and you’ll be the next Santa Clause and Elizabeth will be Mrs Clause you will live until you are 365 years old and then your son Max will become Santa. When you get to The North Pole Jacob will teach you everything you need to know about being Santa.” Then, Santa asked, “Do you understand?” “Yes, except why will I live so long,” asked John. Santa said, “Magic of course! How do you think I get down the chimney without having to break it?” John said enthusiastically, “Yes, Yes I will be the next Santa Clause.” Santa said, “Oh and one more thing you’ll have to deliver the presents this year.” John said, “O.K.” Santa said in a rush of words so fast John could barely understand what he was saying, “It’s time to take my hat hurry up put it on.” John asked curiously, “How do I get to The North Pole?” Santa replied hastily, “The reindeer are on the roof you must hurry or you’ll be late and once I die my body will disappear because of the magic leaving my body and going to yours.” John said while sobbing, “I love you.”

John climbed up the roof using a ladder, climbed into the sled, and the reindeer took off into the night while it began snowing. The reindeers were so fast John was there in a matter of minutes. Once he got off the sleigh an elf was already there waiting. John said, “You must be Jacob.” The elf said, “Yes I am we must hurry we are already late and I have lots of things to teach you and little time to do it.” In about five minutes Jacob taught everything he needed to know from the reindeers names to how to get into a chimney. Finally, Jacob said, “Its time to deliver the Christmas gifts you must go now…and oh yeah now your name is Santa.”

Santa (John) left to deliver the presents after almost every house in the world was visited Santa (John) went to do the last house in Berkley, Michigan to take his family to The North Pole Elizabeth and Max gladly packed and left. When Santa (John), Elizabeth, and Max was leaving the reindeer took off while Santa said, “HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas!”
