• “No, get back here!” I yelled and he turned to look at me and he was going down the dark path.
“If you want your questions answered all you have to do is follow your heart.” He looked at me. He couldn’t have been but two maybe three years older than me. I still couldn’t make out any of his features just that he was about 6 foot maybe even a little shorter than that. I was only about 5’5” so I had little to no chance of fighting him off.
I could feel my feet moving and I could see my vision getting closer and closer to the dark. But at the same time I wasn’t moving, my feet were carrying me. I could tell my mind had given up on trying to prevent me from moving into the darkness, so my heart made my feet move me forward.
As the darkness grew closer I could feel myself letting go of reality, I could tell that if I continued any further in to the darkness I wouldn’t waken, but at that point the darkness made me feel powerful. It made me feel as though I was in the world I belonged in; I could tell that it wasn’t. God didn’t put me in this dark world he put me on earth, earth must be where I belonged, but my feet didn’t believe that and the continued on carrying my body forward. My brain still didn’t care at this point, at this time my soul would want to have to wake me if I was ever going to stop moving on to this dark world.
“Don’t you feel the power becoming more and more strong as you continue through the path?” The strange man asked. I looked at where I was. I wasn’t even half way through the path and the power had almost become too unbearable. I winced as I took another step. “Don’t you crave more power?” He asked and the answer was yes, I wanted to continue down the path to gain more power but I also wanted to get back to my friends on earth, I wanted to be back and living. I no longer wanted to continue through this, I wanted my friends more than I wanted this power. But I almost forgot the reason I continued though the path. It was not for the power it was for the answers. I tried to speak but the words got lost somewhere in my throat. “Do not speak.” He was in front of me. About three feet away. He lifted the hood of his coat and I seen the eyes of the man. A scarlet red almost. He had hair that covered his ears, but it wasn’t much longer than that. He had kind of an olive skin tone, but not much darker than that. His appearance alone drew me in. He smiled and my heart nearly fell, nearly broke into a million pieces. I bit my bottom lip trying to draw blood thus giving me a reason to look away from him. He noticed my struggle to look away; he then quickly walked over to me, covering the three feet in about three seconds. His right pointer finger was on my lips as to tell me be quite.
“Don’t hurt yourself over something so stupid as looking at me.” He smiled and my heart fell. “You see I’m looking at you and well I’m not hurting myself.” He chuckled, as he looked deep in my eyes. Minutes passed as I gazed into the handsome face. I needed to ask something but as again the words got lost in my throat. He moved his finger from my lips. “Please ask your question, I so want to answer it.” He told me.
“Well I know that I’m dreaming, but…but...” I tried to finish but his beauty got in the way of my trying to finish my question.
    “But?” He pushed.
“Are you real? I’m dreaming right now, but when I awake will you be there, alive I mean?” I asked. He chuckled.
“Back when you were making your decision, I told you that I’m always watching you.” He chuckled again. “So yes I am real, alive, and I even breath.” He smiled again, and I forgot how to breath. “Funny how you’re falling for me but you don’t even know my name.” He full out laughed this time and I giggled slightly.
“You don’t know my name either but you’re the one who’s saying that you’re watching me.”
“Oh but don’t I, Sammy.” He looked deep in my eyes.
    “How?” I asked shocked.
“Like I said I have been watching you and well I would have to find out your name sooner or later.”
“Well then since you know my name, what’s yours?”
“Damon.” He smiled. His name fit him perfectly.
“Well Damon…” I tried to finish but got cut short.
“Well Sammy?” He chuckled. I ignored that.
“You need to answer my questions.” I demanded.
“No more questions will be answered until you reach the black palace.” He smiled grimly. “Where you will reach full power and be of use to me.”
“And if I do not agree to go?”
“Well then you will be seeing your mother soon enough, wont you?”
“You wont kill me.” I said looking down.
“Oh but wont I?” He said fiercely
“Huh? You just said you needed me!” I yelled.
“No I said and you will be of use to me.” He chuckled. “But I guess that isn’t the only reason I want you to come with me.” I stared at him in confusion. “Well you see, there is a certain something to you, an untapped power just waiting to find it’s way out of your body to be as some use to you. And well that’s new to me, every Death key I have met before you has been, well not of personal chose. Their blood was not rich enough to withstand the power that lies in the dark palace. And well they have fallen on the path because the power just was to bold for them. But you, your blood is strong, you have been through enough in your life that this path should be nothing but crossing a un-busy street.” He smiled
“That makes no since as to why you want me to come with you, I understand that maybe I was stronger then the other people that tried to cross this path, but that makes absolutely no since as to why you want me.” I babbled. He then placed his hand under my chin. He lifted my face to meet his eyes.
“Well there another thing about you. You are absolutely beautiful.” I laughed at the complement but he ignored it. “I was easily at your hand the moment I met you. Well the moment I saw you.” I laughed again, and again he ignored my laugher. “I remember the exact day, but I’m sure you wouldn’t remember it.” He smiled. “Anyways, like I was trying to say I have never met anyone who I have wanted so badly. And well the moment I found out that you were the Death key I was so full of joy I began to wonder if I really belong in the black palace.” He laughed.
“I’m still not comprehending exactly what this Death key is.” I announced.
“Yes, I guess I get so wrapped up in what I’m saying when I’m talking to you, that I actually say to much and forget what I’m really supposed to be saying. Anyways, the Death key is a special person that has gone through more then their fair share of danger, hatred, and just plain trouble. Well they also have to be born with a curtain power that only a mixed breed has.”
“Wait, wait, wait! I’m not a mixed breed, I’m only werewolf!” I said intensely.
“Are you sure of that?” I thought about that question. I came to the conclusion that I didn’t know, I never knew my mother, I thought she was werewolf, but now that I think of it my life has been full of lies.
“I’m not sure of it.” I announced after thinking it over for a good five minutes.
“See, well anyways after getting in a terrible accident they come here and choose the path they want to take, I’m here to tempted the Death key to take the dark path, And then there is a lost love one that tell the Death key ‘It doesn’t matter which road you take I’ll always be with you.’” He said in a mocking voice.
“And the reason for having a Death key?”
“To keep everything in balance, you have to remember that not all Death keys choose to take this path.”
“Okay I think I get it…but you said earlier that it has to have the power that only a mixed breed has, well what kind of mix…like human and werewolf?”
“Vampire and Werewolf.” He said. “Another name for the Death key is Full Moon Vampire.”
“Oh…” Was all I could force out of my throat.
“Well as I was trying to say before we got into this huge question thing was that I have never wanted someone as much as you, you are beautiful, and you are strong, you would make a great queen at the dark palace. And as I the king we would rule.” He looked deep in my eyes and for some reason I liked the thought of that. But then I remembered I needed to get back to reality.
“I-I-I need to get back home!” I yelled.
“Your choosing your home right now, light or dark, its your choose.” Damon smiled and I lost concentration.
“Can’t I have a few day on earth to think about what I was to decide?” I asked sweetly hoping that he wouldn’t be able to resist me. He sighed. Its sounded like a sigh of forfeit. I smiled weakly hoping that would soften him up more.
“I’ll give you till then next full moon, how does that sound?” He asked me.
“Sounds like enough time to me.” I smiled. Just then I heard something strange, even though I was dreaming I heard Mitch’s voice.
“Sammy! Sammy please breath!” He yelled at my unconscious body. I wasn’t breathing. I looked at Damon in horror.
“Why am I not breathing?!” I yelled at him.
“Because to make the decision you need to be dead, and well I thought you were going to make your decision today.” Damon smiled grimly.
“Well not yet, so make me breath!” I yelled.
“Fine, fine.” He whispered with a sigh.
“Move out of the way Mitch!” Seth yelled. I couldn’t see what was going on, the only thing I could do is hear the low mumbles in the back of my head.
“Just remember that I will always watch you, protect you, and never leave you. I will be popping in on your dreams to make sure that you are making your decision, and well I will see you in the flesh, and we will talk. Please remember that I only want what’s best for you.” He said in a whisper. I then slowly came back to reality.
When I had completely came out of my alternate world I noticed there were lips over mine. Seth hovered inches away from me. I laughed weakly.
“That doesn’t count!” I said weakly with a giggle.
“Awww and I was hoping that would count as our first kiss.” Seth laughed.
    “You saved my life though.”
“Yeah C.P.R the best way to save a beautiful girl.” He chuckled but I could tell the words were true.
“Shut up.” I giggled weakly. And so began the last month of my life.
