Brook took another half hearted glance out the class room window, at least it was raining on the day she had an after school detention. She blew some of the blond strands of hair from her face and then turned to face the front of the class room, again.
“alright miscreants,” the teachers voice boomed over the pitter patter of rain “you are dismissed”
With that chairs scrapped along the tiled floor and the chattering began, as one by one the eight students left. Brook was the last to leave, giving the teacher a deliberately defiant look, before putting on her headphones and coat, then left.
After four a-clock the corridors seemed strangely empty, besides the old cleaning lady, brook was the only one, others who had stayed for clubs (or detentions) had already left, even teachers had seemingly abandoned the building.
Brook turned on her mp4 to full volume as she left the building, walking swiftly out the doors and main gates, into the open world. A tune started, blaring trough the head phones, a swift calm tune
Na na, na na na, na na
The rain started falling faster.
I miss you,
Brook pulled her hood further over her face.
Miss you so bad
People rushing to get to cover
I don't forget you,
A car came past, splashing her with cold water
Oh it's so sad
She shrugged it off and kept walking
I hope you can hear me
I remember it clearly
The rain keeps pouring, less and less people on the street
The day you slipped away
was the day I found it won't be the same
Brook walked to the curb; she looked left then right, and crossed the road.
Ooooh
Na na, na na na, na na
She kept walking, only stopping for a moment to check her watch
I didn't get around to kiss you
She wipes some of the wet hair from her face
Goodbye on the hand
She waved at the post man, empting the post box
I wish that I could see you again
I know that I can't
Ooooh
As brook kept walking, she entered an alleyway as a short cut
I hope you can hear me
Cause I remember it clearly
She heard footsteps, and started walking faster, not looking back
The day you slipped away
She kept going and emerged on the other end of the alley not bothering to look as she crossed the road
Was the day I found it won't be the same
Ooooh
She felt herself being tugged back by her arm
I had my wake up
A car rusted in front of her
Won't you wake up?
Her green eyes widened
I keep asking why
“...I-it would have hit me...”
And I can't take it
She twisted around to see the person that stopped her
It wasn't fake
It happened, you passed by
He stood calmly, drenched brunet hair covering part of his face
Now you are gone, now you are gone
“You dropped this” he held out a small photograph
There you go, there you go
Brook softly took the photo...
Somewhere I can't bring you back
Her mother and father, sat on a park bench...
Now you are gone, now you are gone
...Brunt at the edges...
There you go, there you go,
..the only photo that wasn’t destroyed...
Somewhere your not coming back
She took of her head phones
The day you slipped away
“t-thank you...thank you” she said, as small droplets rolled down her face
Was the day I found it won't be the same no...
The boy smiled “your welcome”
The day you slipped away
Brook smiled back weakly
Was the day that I found it won't be the same oooh...“What’s your name?”
Na na, na na na, na na
“Collin Tyme”
I miss you“thank you, Collin”
