• Chapter 1 - The story
14-year-old Darcie Benson was feeling so tired as she walked home from a tiring day at school with her friends, Charlotte and Annie. Darcie always had to take her 5-year-old brother home to school with them, and when they got bored, he would screech, giving Annie and Charlotte a headache and the wonder of why they ever wanted to walk home with Darcie anyway. But she was their friend, and she was theirs. "Darcie, why do you always have to take your brother home? he can take the bus." asked Charlotte.
"because, Lottie, my brother is scared of Flint Cruston." Flint Cruston was only the scariest boy in town. He didn't bully, and had lots of friends, but he just told them all spooky stories, ones he claimed were "Real". Drew liked them at first, but one day, Flint told a story about the Benson house-hold, and about down that street, ever since the last people to live in their house, the street had been haunted. Darcie tried to convince him these were just normal stories, but he wouldn't believe her.

    (Darcie's Diary entry) 11/11/06
    Dear Diary,
Drew used to be the kind of boy that's favourite holiday was halloween. he used to love spooking people and going trick-or-treating in a costume that looked like it had jumped out of Flint Cruston's stories. He used to enjoy talking to Flint, until he told us a spooky story about our road, Oak Avenue, and how it was just like Elm street. Drew had seen 'nightmare on Elm street', but I didn't dare watch it. just looking at Drew in his monster costume scared me enough. Ever since listening to stories, Drew has walked home with us. I don't know how a 18-year-old high school boy(he got held back) can scare the joy of halloween right out of a reception like that. I'm so scared about if the story is true.
    Love Darcie
