• Black and White

    part 1: the team

He walked into the smoky tavern and sat at and empty corner table. It was eleven at night and the assassin new his target would be here. It’s the year 642 and the group known as the assassins are trying to keep the templars from tacking over the kingdom. Altir was one of the best assassins, was. He made the mistake of not waiting for the right moment to strike. This was the last part of his test to prove that he wasn’t losing his touch.
He sat there patiently waiting, but his target didn’t come in. Just when he was about to leave a person dress just like him but in black walked in and sat down next to him.
“You are in danger,” said the mysterious man.
“And you don’t know who your talking to. I’m always in danger.”
Just then his target walked in and sat down at the bar and ordered an ale. The assassin tilted his hand up and the hidden blade strapped to the bottom of his wrist noiselessly slid out.
“You don’t want to do that.”
    “Why would that be?”
“All of the templars will be after you.”
“They already are. I’m the one whose been killing there leaders.”
Then the assassin stood up and walked over to the templar and slid the blade into his neck. The templar fell limp to the floor; the assassin bolted out the door and jumped on to the roof of the building across the street. The man in black fallowed fast behind.
Once they got far enough away they stopped and the assassin turned to the man in black.
“Who are you and what do you want from me,” he asked.
“My name is Leonardo and I am a guardian. I was told to protect you.”
“Well then why did you run from the tavern?”
“I didn’t want to fight if I didn’t have to.”
“Sure an assassin who doesn’t want a fight.”
“You should know that. After all you are my guardian.”
“That’s not how it works I am only here to make sure you don’t die, that’s my job.”
“Well then tell me more how it works.”
“Not now, not here. Come to my house and I’ll explain.”
    “Fine then, lead the way.”
Altir the great assassin was following a guardian. That’s ironic because he hates the guardians. The guardians are trying to do the same thing as the assassins but the problem is that what they are doing is only delaying the problem, or at least that’s how Altir thinks.
When they got to the guardian’s house they sat at a table and ate a diner of corn, potatoes, and a well-spiced duck, with a nicely aged ale. After dinner they went into the study to talk.
“So tell me about ‘how it works’,” the assassin started.
“Ok, but get comfortable this might take a wile. Us guardians get jobs just like you, but to protect people-“
“That’s the problem right there we get rid of the problem you prolong or delay it.”
“That’s not it at all we use a less violent method of protecting the innocent. We are trying to stop the blood shed.”
    “So are we”
    “By creating more?”
“No by stopping the ones causing it.”
“But that’s not right, why should you get to decide who lives and dies?”
    “Because nobody else will.”
“ Only the ones whose lives are on the line should get to decide.”
“Yes I agree but they are the ones attacking other people, and trying to take away peoples homes in the kingdoms.”
“Now I see the way you think, it dose make sense, but then why are we fighting?”
    “I truly don’t know.”
“The guardians and the assassins should be working together. The guardians protecting innocents and the assassins killing the templars.”
“Yes that’s a good plan lets see what we can do about that.”
“Yes but later it’s time to sleep.”
