The candles are lit,
and the holly is hung,
placed is the Bible kit,
and upon the mantle a garland strung.
Apple cider scents the room,
a pine tree drinks in all cheer,
a poinsettia gleams in full bloom,
tonight the night is void of fear.
Colorful presents tempt from below,
secrets discrete under ribbons tied,
from below the great green boughs,
of Christmas spirit cast worldwide.
The menorah is lit,
and the blessings are said,
thanks overcomes, bit by bit,
and all bellies are contently fed.
Potato pancakes scent the room,
remembrance is near,
yet it causes no gloom,
sins have faded with every year.
A present waits from below,
next to an ever-spinning top,
and sufganiyot dough,
as eight days draw to a stop.
In six days the year will end,
In seven the year will begin once more.
but hearts will need no mend -
for winter comes again to our door -
a fun and precious dear-old-friend.
