Well, I've had requests to restart my rants, so heres a small one. This one is about the political situation here in Gaia Online, being the 29th March, 2005 (Australian Time).

Now, I realise that there are a massive amount of fans out there for either side of this conflict, and both sides have good reasons for hating the other. I myself, however, find myself holding two different picket signs. The one in my left hand is anti-Von Helson. The one in my right, anti-Gambino. I can just hear those out there right now. Both sides saying to drop the other sign, and for varying reasons.

The Gambino camp says that the Von Helsons were a part of a conspiracy to bring down Gambino that fateful Halloween, when his mansion blew up. Also, another reason for hating the Von Helsons was that they had kidnapped Gino. While this is true, and it brought about Gambino's feelings for his son, has no-one realized something about that particular event?

The Von Helson camp have their reasons for hating Gambino as well. Gambino is, for one, the self proclaimed "Most Powerful Man in Gaia". While undisputed by other NPC's, who put him in charge of titles? Also, that incident on Isle de Gambino, with the mansion going ker-blewie like that, AND unleashing the zombie menace on the population. It's been said that there still exist avatars with zombie features. Hang on, didn't Gambino take as many precautions as he could to prevent something like this?


Well...to be very honest. I really think I should be holding both these signs high and proud. Though both camps will want to throttle me, I have my own reasons.


First, about Gambino. Before he was reduced to poverty, he seemed to have absolutely no regard for his only son, Gino. It wasn't until he had lost everything did he appear to care about whether his son was alive or not. During Christmas, he did appear to learn the value of family, as demonstrated during the Gaia 2nd Anniversary Ball when the Von Helson sisters kidnapped Gino during the party and held him hostage.

After swearing to never return to Durem in exchange for the safety of his son, he started a drive to rebuild his mansion. Many kind souls donated to him, myself included, to help him rebuild his life. We were expecting him to rebuild his mansion and get back to life as usual, without visits to Durem. But no, his power lust kicked in once he had enough for the mansion and just wanted more to build that huge tower that now stands high above Isle de Gambino. Johnny K, care to explain why you squandered the gold of the kind souls that donated to you? For shame.


Don't worry, the Von Helsons will get verbal abuse too!


Now, for the Von Helsons. You girls appeared shortly after Christmas, like a well thought out Christmas present, a fresh breeze as the new characters in the Gaia experience. Indeed you are. Hosting the Gaia 2nd Anniversary Ball at your own mansion was quite a nice thing to do, considering Gambino's mansion, at the time, was slightly ka-boomed at the time. However, there were some things that started to stir suspicion around the masses. For example, one of the rooms in your mansion was trashed. Completely. Something big had happened here, but no-one could hazard a guess to what.

Then, during the Ball, you didn't have the manners that usually comes with a rich upbringing, not even the manners to say a "Thank you" to anyone for showing up. Many were rather insulted that our hosts didn't have any manners.

Upon further investigation of the mansion, many of the disgruntled guests, including myself, stumbled upon room after room of modifications to the original mansion, perfectly good books replaced with trashy teen magazines in the library and reading rooms, the room with the telescope in it turned into a salon. All of this led to one conclusion, which horrified me most of all. The Von Helsons were rich spoilt teenage brats. Not disimilar from the Hiltons.

THEN kidnapping Gino. That was certainly a blow to the brownie points.


In conclusion, I don't think either of these groups deserve my support. So, I stand proudly in the middle, holding BOTH picket signs high in the air, to prove that I will not follow a power hungry maniac or a pair of spoilt rich kids. For now, it appears...I STAND ALONE!!!


If there's anything I missed, or you want to make your own statement for/against either party, then by all means, go ahead and post a comment. However, I will not tolerate flames saying things in 1337 like, I'm stupid, or, Gambino sucks, or, Von Helson sisters suck, or whatever. I just wanna hear your views, as I've just had mine.
