So my friend Se7en is in the Marines. He's over on mainland japan (my ancestry's from Okinawa.) He was about to go to Tokyo when he get's some bad news. Turns out, a Yakuza shootout happened in Tokyo! For those not clued in, Yakuza are the japanese mafia. They're pretty broad though. So street punks will claim to be from Yakuza, and even "respectable" business owners. Out of boredom, I wiki Yakuza. Turns out, Yakuza is just a general term for any organized japanese gang. Along with a mess of other names, they came from various backgrounds. Some from Ronin (A samurai without a daimyo.) To Vigilante groups that protected their village, to just hoodlums. Sounds alot like gangs in America. Black panther party anyone?

Strange how after all the "protection" we get from the government, people feel then need to form groups to police things themselves. Shouldn't this be a sign that things arn't as productive, even protective, as they should be?

As far as vigilantes? I think they're a romantic idea, until the detail's get involved. Rumors spread, things are blown out of proportion, and a self-policing populace turns into an angry mob that will assault anyone to mitigate their wrath.

We need knights of the round table again.
