As I turned down the street to go into the warehouse, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was a bat hovering about the old building. I walked a little faster eager to see the bat closer up. I looked at the door and sighed. “Of course it’s locked,” I stated sourly. I leaned against the door and sat down. I felt the same presence I had felt when the gothic boy had appeared. I shrugged and looked to my side where the bat had been. OH MY GOSH! There he was again. My heart raced for a second. God, could he be any less loud? He was like a ninja man. He wiped his long hair out of his eyes, which looked worried. I didn’t understand why he would ever be worried about me. But then I noticed I’d screamed. Silly me. Did I scare you? I’m so sorry.” He said grabbing my hands comfortingly. “No, screaming is just how I greet people.” I laughed. He smiled at me. What a pretty smile. He could be a hypnotist. All people had to do was look at him and they’d swoon. The smile illuminated features not even the moon could. “Sorry, just after you,” he struggled for the right word “fight, I guess you could call it, I had to come looking for you. What happened?” he asked sincerely. How could I lie to him? How could I deny him? He was so sweet and innocent and God like and beautiful…. Sorry trailing off again. He was gorgeous. “Well, see that was my former best friend” I started. And as I told him my story- the very story I just told you. But maybe a few more details and stuff that you guys just aren’t special enough to receive- his gaze seemed to soften even more. By the end of it he looked concerned. “That’s horrible.” He muttered. See, Joey may have been nice and listened to me, or pretended to, but this guy was truly caring about me! He and I seemed like we could get a long. I mean we even dressed alike. “I wish that wouldn’t have happened to you.” He said sincerely. “Thanks” I smiled. “So why are you out here so late?” I asked looking at my Spider watch. “I love the night. I like to be out here. Especially when the moon is so bright and beautiful like this”-you mean like you-“ Midnight is really the only time to view the night sky properly.” He answered dreamily. “By the way, I’m Louis.” When he said Louis it wasn’t the cheep American way. It was the French way –Lou-ee. And it made me feel peaceful. “I’m Claudia.” I said in return. “Claudia.” He breathed and kissed my hand. I felt my face turn red. “It would seem that our names are from the same movie” he grinned. He was right too. Both of our names were the main characters of ‘Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles’ But wait? Was that the only vampire movie he’s seen? Or was he an avid vampire lover like me? He obviously saw the whole thinking process. It was very noticeable. I am blonde after all. I would bite my bottom lip and stare forward blankly. “What’s on your mind?” he asked. “Are you a vampire lover?” I responded. Ok, sure I wasn’t being good about my questions. But what was I supposed to saw ‘I was wondering if you like blood sucking demons so beautiful they can corrupt your thoughts?’ Didn’t think so. He was quick to answer. “Yes, I’ve always loved them.” He replied eagerly. “Aren’t you?" “Of course I am. My room is filled with vampire stuff.” I answered. Ha! Another vampire lover. But why hadn’t I noticed him. And that’s just what I asked next. “Are you new here or something? I’ve never really seen you around.” “Yeah, we just moved into the neighborhood across the street from the high school.” He said. He wasn’t looking at me though. He was looking at the moon. I wondered then if he went to my school as well. But then something else came into realization. “Hey! I live in that neighborhood too!” I said gleefully. “Yeah,” he said dreamily as bats flew across the sky. No bats really lived in Arizona so it was odd that I’d been seeing them so often. I looked back over at Lois but he was gone. He hadn’t even told me where he lived or how to contact him. I desperately hoped I would see him again. What I thought was going to the worst night ever had turned into one of the greatest things ever. I may have lost my best friend but I met someone just like me.
