A breeze suddenly swept through the grasses, startling the grey Klipspringer who lay, surrounded by the blades. The grass began to sway, slowly at first, but the wind's blow soon strengthened and sent the blades swinging about, wildly.

Chachili lay low, blinking as it began to rain. A few spots of rain fell, falling slowly, one at a time, on the earth below. Then, one by one, the spots fell more quickly. The rain started pelting down.

It was a strange sight to Chachili, as rain almost never came in the hot savannah. It seemed like a quick storm was passing over. Nothing too big. There would never be huge downpours where Chachili lived.

Still, the Klipspringer lay low in the grass. She hoped the rain would pass by, soon. The earth was slippery... if she was sprung by a predator and needed to run away, there was a danger of slipping and falling.

Chachili hoped that nobody would find her.

The Klipspringer was in luck today, a female, half blind Hare was the only thing in sight for miles.

Her snow body stuck out in the grasses and she wasn't one who should really be around these parts, more an artic hare then an African one. Her ears twitched on her head as she heard some noise and her curiosity led her towards it.

This is where she found the Klipspringer, a surprise it was to, along with the drops of rain that kept hitting on her head. Weupe shook the drops off and ran towards the older and bigger creature, it could shelter her if she was nice enough.

((sorry its a really bad post, I haven't really rped my Hare yet!))

"Ah!" Chachili jumped, as she noticed a strangely coloured hare darting towards her, "Whoah! Where'd you come from?"

She paused, looking up to the sky warily as thunder boomed. It was starting to get blustery... a storm was most likely passing by. Chachili winced. She hated storms more than she hated predators.

Still, she looked to the hare. It had certainly given her a fright. The Klipspringer wasn't used to animals popping up from nowhere.

"Who are you, then?" she asked, tilting her head to one side, "I'd have thought someone like you should be hiding in your burrow by now."

The deer shuddered as another ear-splittingly loud noise thundered through the sky.

'Lightning'... Thunder...

The sky was angry.

The Hare dashed under the Klipspringer as much as mossible and didn't say anything till she got her breath back.

"Sorry, I don't have a burrow, I like being in the open, strange I know. There no abandoned ones around either.." She continued to pant a bit looking up at the horrible sky.

"I am Weupe and sorry if I frightened you... The rain is really heavy on you when you are this small!" She smiled up and the larger creature before nestling down, trying to keep dry and warm.

Chachili sighed, deciding to let the creature take shelter underneath her. She stood up in the rain, the droplets pelting her. It felt kind of nice...

Cold, yet refreshing. It had been quite a long time since Chachili had had a 'shower', so to speak. She closed her eyes, letting the cool water splash upon her face.

"Weupe, eh?" she grunted, not daring to move in case she accidentally stepped upon the hare, "I'm Chachili. A Klipspringer. Nice to meet you, then. Though, it's rather strange for one of your kind to not have a den. What do you normally do when it rains? Run under the nearest hoofed mammal?"

Chachili, of course, didn't mind. She just needed to be extra still for the creature. And plus, she liked hares. This one seemed to have less attitude than the one she was already aquainted with, but Chachili liked hares all the same.

"Hopefully the storm will pass," she said, looking to the sky, "Until then... we'll just have to wait. Talk, I guess. What do you say?"

Weupe had curled her self up making herself small, her ears flat on her back. She looked rather amusing, wet and small but she didn't care what she looked like, she was keeping dry at the moment.

"I am strange, I won't lie. I normally hide in hedges, bushes, anything, but I thought it made more sense to run to you, company and dryness, makes sense to me." She smiled though didn't look up, she was warmer how she was.

"I am good with talking, I don't do it often but I like it when I can. Do you have any family?" She listened intently to anything the larger animal said for two reasons, one, she was interested and two, she was scared that if she didn't look or be interested then she would get stepped on.

Chachili listened to the hare, nodding occasionally to show she understood and was being quite attentive. Usually, the klipspringer wouldn't have been this engaged in a conversation... but it was raining, she couldn't move and there was nothing safe to do in weather like this. A bit of a conversation wouldn't hurt. Surely it wouldn't.

"Strange beings are sometimes the best," Chachili said, eyes glittering, "Those who are unique tend to be the most interesting. I don't like chit-chat with boring creatures. It's good to meet someone without a home. I'm a wanderer too, y'see. I suppose you could say we're alike, in a way."

Kind of. The Klipspringer felt a little faint. Dizzy, perhaps. She shook the feeling away. Now was not the time to be feeling sick. The cold shouldn't bother her... she could fight off things like the flu. At least, she thought she could.
Weupe continued talking. Chachili was beginning to enjoy speaking with her... until one word escaped from the hare's lips.

Family.

Chachili almost choked. Of all things, why did the hare have to bring up that? Suddenly, Chachili felt cold.

"I don't have any family," she said, screwing her nose up into a bitter snarl, "At least, not any more."

Feeling she had made the conversation a little awkward, Chachili threw the same question back at Weupe.

"Do you have any family, Weupe?"

Chachili hoped Weupe wouldn't ask her about her family again. It was a touchy issue for Chachili. It was like a splinter to the heart. The klipspringer shuddered.

"My family died, all eaten, hense the scar on my eye. I was blinded in one eye when we were attacked but I survived, only one who did." She sighed but didn't show any emotion. Family wasn't something she really knew so she couldn't be sad though she had some sort of emptiness inside. It was her nature to be in a large family.

Chachili blinked. The hare had told her such a tragic tale in a matter of seconds. It was all so hard to grasp. The klipspringer had expected tales of a happy hare, with a happy childhood.

She hadn't been expecting that.

"I'm... sorry to hear that, Weupe."

There was silence. Chachili looked to the earth. She didn't know what to say. The rain was still falling, too, and it suited the mood. Dark. Sad. Scary.

"My family..." Chachili began, feeling though she should share her story with the hare, "... were also killed. Some fled, like me, and survived. We're all split up, though. It was lions. Lions. Terrible beings, they are. They flashed their teeth and ripped us to shreds. I can't remember much... everyone was in a panic. Everything was a blur."

It was horrible. Chachili's stomach dropped.
The splitting of the herd was enough to tell Weupe. She couldn't bare to start about her Father, or the slaves, or anything. It would be too overwhelming.

All too much.

"So now, I wander. Travel. I guess I'm kind of like you, Weupe."

Weupe listened to her tale and got up on her hind legs to rub against the larger animal. She did it out of sympathy. "Being alone isn't all that bad, I guess its more vunerable but you can talk yourself out of being eaten most of the time. Lions are too dumb to keep a decent conversation so confusing them is easy, gives ya more of a chance to escape! Thats what I found anyway. Can't do that if there are lotsa ya!" She was trying to make it seem a little happier, she didn't like sad things, they were sad.

Chachili brightened.

"Yeah," she smiled, "I guess I'm used to travelling alone now. It's a regular thing. I'm just not... used to family. But meeting others? Lately, I've become quite better at doing that."

She smiled, winking at the hare. For a fleeting moment, Chachili wondered what had killed Weupe's parents. She decided to shake off the question. The hare was moving onto a different subject. Chachili didn't want to dwell on the subject of 'Family'. It was all too much, really.

"Thanks. I haven't really talked to a lion before. They better be stupid. In fact, I'm pretty sure you're right. They would be idiots, wouldn't they?"

Looking up, Chachili noticed that the rain was beginning to stop. The clouds were slowly rolling away, revealing a single ray of light that touched the earth. The rain drops slowed, the last few finishing their descent and splashing onto the African soil.
The storm was over.

Chachili yawned, then stretched out her legs, carefully stepping over the hare.

"Time for me to move on, I guess," she smiled, "It was nice meeting you, Weupe. Now I know that there are others just like me out there. I'm not alone."

She turned, facing the other direction, then winked at Weupe.

"We'll meet again, Weupe."

Then, in jerky bounds, the klipspringer tore off.
