The family stayed for a few days longer, so the triplets could spend some time with the chicks before they finally had to go again. When they left, they walked along the cliff face to the main path
Koneko~This takes us to Mount Gagazet?
Ann~Yup. I also bought you guys something warmer in case you need it
Reiketsu~Is that why you’re wearing pants?
Ann~Yeah. I almost froze if your grandpa didn’t force me to stop being stubborn
Kiba~How far up were you before that happened?
Ann~Ummm…Maybe 3 or 4 hours up? We didn’t stay long at the base. The Ronso weren’t too friendly at the time so we only said hi.
Tenka~What was happening? I thought you said they were a kind race?
Ann~They were still upset that the Guado had killed many of their people because of Seymour. Many wanted to attack them as revenge. It took a while, but the Gullwings were able to pacify them and they made peace.
Reiketsu~Why didn’t you and Grandpa help?
Ann~He was done meddling with politics. As much as he loved Kimahri, he wasn’t going to step into that
Koneko~That makes sense. With you and Grandpa, you might have started a war instead
Ann~Brat
She konked her daughter on the head
Kiba~Relax Ann. It’s true anyway
Ann~Not helping
She made a swing at him, but Kiba jabbed her side
Reiketsu~Wait, you just hit Mom
Kiba~She let me
Tenka~Really?
Ann~I wasn’t trying.
Tenka~Why?
Ann~I don’t have to try anymore for you three
Koneko~It’s weird though…
Ann~Just keep walking then. We’re almost at the base of the mountain. There’ll be snow there and some Ronsos

They continued their walk in peace as the triplets played with each other and jumped off the rocks to play fight. Just before they got to the base that Ann was talking about, they were stopped by two Ronsos
Ann~you look familiar…Lian? Ayde?
Both~Lady…Ann?
Ann~You two are so big now! I barely recognized you!
Ann hugged them both
Lian~Lady Ann cannot pick up Ronso anymore?
Ann~Don’t try me pup. I can still carry you. I can’t because I already promised that I won’t accidentally hurt myself
Ayde~Lady Ann and family are travelling?
Ann~Yes! Is Kimahri around? I wanted to do introductions then
The two grunted and motioned for them to follow. Further ahead were more Ronsos, including Kimahri

When they got to him, they all bowed
Ann~Elder Kimahri, it’s great to see you again
Kimahri~Lady Ann is no longer a pup. Who are friends?
Ann~My mate, Kiba, and out litter, Reiketsu, Tenka, and Koneko
He eyed each of them for a moment, but lingered on Koneko
Reiketsu~I don’t like how he’s staring
Kiba~Me neither
Ann~I’ve never seen her act like this either
Koneko moved first, circling around Kimahri and sniffing the air around him. The Ronso stood still, only turning his head to keep her in sight. She soon stood in front of him, and Kimahri picked her up at arms length. He gave her s a sniff then turned to Ann
Kimahri~Did Ann mate with Ronso? Did pup mate with Ronso?
Ann~No. They’re triplets, and I haven’t been here for 20 years. She didn’t mate with anyone either; they’re not yet 10. Why?
Kimahri~Pup smells like Ronso.
Something in Ann clicked, and she dropped to her knees, laughing
Kiba~Ann!
Reiketsu~What’s wrong?
She laughed hysterically for a few more moments before calming down enough to answer
Ann~All these y-years…I didn’t n-need to worry…
Kiba~What did you realize?
He helped her uncurl and brushed some hair from her face as she laughed a bit more
Ann~I think…I think one of my ancestors mated with a Ronso. And I think you being an Inuzuka helped express those traits
Tenka~So all three of us has Ronso blood somewhere, but sis is the only one who can take the name?
Ann~yeah…
Kimahri~Sounds complicated. Is Ann okay now?
Ann~yeah…I’m good. I can…I can stand.
Reiketsu and Tenka helped her stand. Ann brushed off the snow and patted their heads. She looked over at Kimahri, now noticing that Koneko was quiet. Her daughter was still being carried, but she was held against the Ronso’s side and was snuggling into his chest
Kiba~okay?
Ann~Yeah. Kinda jealous.
Kiba~Hey…
Ann~Feels like uncle
Kiba~yeah, I can’t top that. Zabuza’s hugs are really good
Reiketsu~He’s hugged you?
Kiba~There were a few times I brought Ann home safe when he couldn’t
Kimahri~What brought Ann back to Spira?
Ann~I wanted my kids to know about my family’s history
He hummed and nodded.
Ann~I can take Koneko. She looks like she fell asleep on you
When Kimahri tried to pass her, she only grabbed onto him more
Ann~Brat took too much after me.
Ann tried to pry her arms off but she only held tighter. Ann sighed
Ann~I’m sorry Kimahri. Looks like you’re gonna have to drop her
Kimahri~Kimahri does not mind. Kimahri can watch pup
Ann~But…
Reiketsu~Come on mom. We only just got here. Why not stick around?
Ann~I guess. But I was hoping to get up the mountain by nightfall.
Kimahri~Travelling mountain is dangerous at night. Staying until morning will also be safe if family does not leave soon
Ann~Alright. We’ll stay an hour and hopefully Koneko will wake by then
Reiketsu and Tenka immediately dropped their things and ran over to Lian and Ayde to play
Ann~Does Kimahri have pups?
Kimahri~Not yet
Ann~Are you liking it so far with her?
Kimahri~Kimahri does not mind it. Ann was easy to handle. Yuna too.
Ann~That’s right, you also took care of Yuna. What about babies? Did you ever get a chance to visit Besaid when Vidina was just born?
Kimahri~No. As elder, Kimahri does not get to travel much. Must look over Ronso affairs.
Ann~That’s fair. Koneko naps well, so she shouldn’t be waking for a while
Kimahri~Why is Ann in a hurry to go?
Ann~We’re here for only a year. I want to make sure they see everything before we get distracted with training.
Kimahri~Just like last time. Are pups doing better than Ann?
Ann~Yeah…They are…
Kiba~Everyone they’ve met all said the triplets were better mannered
Kimahri chuckled and Ann hit him
Kimahri~Still same Ann. Still very pouty
Kiba chuckled and gave Ann a peck on the cheek

After a little while, Reiketsu, Tenka, Lian, and Ayde came back
Ann~Have fun?
Lian~They are strong like Ann. Is other pup strong too?
Ann~Yeah. When she’s awake
Tenka~We should wake her. If we wait any longer we’re going to have to carry her up
Ann~You’re right. Dad only carried me at Thunder Plains because I got hurt.
She went to Kimahri and shook her
Koneko~Noooo….
Ann~You had your nap. Now get up
Koneko~But comfy…
She pushed more into Kimahri
Reiketsu~Can always drop her
Kimahri~Is that always the solution?
Kiba~Pretty much. Can always just punch her off as well
Kimahri sighed~Time to let go pup
Koneko~But Kimahriiiii
She stretched, breathing deep
Koneko~Mmmm…smell good.
Kimahri~Not good
Ann~What do you mean?
While Kimahri was trying to push her away, Koneko managed to climb high enough and kissed him
Reiketsu~That’s why…
Kiba punched Kimahri down, making him drop Koneko
Lian and Ayde~Elder!
Ann~Nice punch. You beat me to it too…Kimahri!
She and the two Ronsos helped pull Kimahri up while Kiba picked up Koneko
Kimahri~Not Kimahri’s fault
Ann~I know. I’m sorry. Honestly, it’s better that it was Kiba than me
Kiba~I’m sorry. Instinct just took over
Koneko~What happened?
Tenka~What did happen? Koneko was acting weird earlier too?
Kimahri~Heat cycle
Lian~How old are pups?
Kiba~Almost 10 years old
Ayde~First heat cycle
Kiba~Oh…That’s…okay. I can handle this
Koneko~I don’t understand

Kimahri~Is family going to run?
Ann~Just like dad
Kimahri~Pup will be fine after a week. Cycle will happen two times a year

Tenka~Can we come back after Zanarkand?
Kimahri~Ann?
Ann~Yes?
Kimahri punched her down
Ann~Okay, I deserved that. We’ll wait a week before we come back. I’ll make it up to you too
They said their goodbyes before starting up the mountain.
