Magical Art - Dark Faith

Dark is not evil. Great faith is needed to use the magics call "dark", for they are the magics of life and death, fate and fortune. Enough faith can move mountains, or so it is said, and practitioners of Dark magic can do just that. Be warned, though, as the magics of life and death are called "dark" for a reason. Too much life means never-ending suffering. Too much death means barren, empty wastelands. Take care, for the Priests often know this all too well...

Unlike elementalists, Dark magic users have a ranking system, seemingly basted on the first five Major Arcana Tarot cards.

Fools - The Uninitiated. Those seeking the truth. Anyone who does not know (or cannot use) Faith-basted spells are named after this card, the card of beginnings.

Magicians - Adepts. Those who learn wisdom. Members of the initiated who have not yet learned enough to be called masters of the craft, usually only know either Life or Death spells, are named after this card.

Priests/Priestesses - Masters. Those who know duality. Full practitioners who usually know both Life and Death magic, are named after this card.

Empress - Specialists. Those who love all, and hate all. A unique case, but a known and respected one. Someone who, through the normal training methods of a coven or cult, learns only one magic type, usually Life or Fortune. They are respected by fellow Dark Priests, due to the fact they can wield magics mightier then some of the mightiest Emperors....but only in a single field.

Emperor - Arch-masters. Those who rule. The leaders of clans, cults, or covens are named after these cards. The mightiest of Dark spells are wielded by them, with no known exception beyond Empresses.

There is a sixth card in play, and most clans, covens, and cults do not talk of it. It is the Hierophant. It typically arises for Fate, as very few know that it is a part of the Dark magic set.

Hierophant - Pariahs/The Self-Taught. Those who force questioning. An interesting case, where someone, usually a Fool, learns a measure of Dark magic without proper training. They almost always are masters (and therefore technical Priestesses) of Fate-type spells if they get any real steam behind this improvised training, but rarely could be considered anything better then a Magician in normal settings. They force one to questions beliefs, and are usually hunted down due to this.
