Dear The Journal,

As it would seem, I’m growing increasingly more disgusted with people as a whole. It’s the way they go on and on and while they work so hard for what they have, they’re not really doing anything at all. They get lost in this machine of work-to-gain, spend-to-gain, work-to-gain, only to feel the need to spend-to-gain even more! I, at least, can see my own failings. I see what makes me unhappy. I don’t try to make it better by trying to validate my existence by what I own. I try and knock the problem out at the source; in my very person.

I mean, I don’t claim to have the shittiest life. It’s far from perfect, yes, but far from unbearable as well. I’ve got a lot of things going for me, and, consequently, a lot of things against me. I’ve got a great girlfriend, good pals, a house, a dog, but at the same time, I’m fat and lazy and I think I may also be slightly insane. Not criminally insane, but clinically, most definitely. In the past four days or so, I’ve gotten perhaps 12 hours of sleep all total. On top of that, I’ve eaten well over the government established limit of seven hits of acid. But none of that is the point. The point is I’m actually trying to better myself, now that I’ve admitted my shortcomings. I’ve been at it for a while now, and while the progress is slow to minimal, it’s still progress.

Most people, on the other hand, don’t do jack s**t for themselves. They just keep buying and buying, trying to make their lives mean something. Apparently your amount of meaning in existence is directly proportional to the amount of s**t you own. They buy and buy and while they do, they destroy the economy and add to the clutter. Or they just off themselves when the pressure gets to be too much, in turn, making room for someone much like the aforementioned group. Granted, the destruction of the economy isn’t all bad. It would eventually lead to the destruction of the government it fuels; namely, the American one.

Those old ******** shrivs can’t go one second without passing one bill or legislation. Yet, they seem to miss the fact that... and let me make this rather clear... NOTHING IS GETTING BETTER! Unemployment is still a major problem. Not to mention, according to the Surgeon General, anything can give you cancer nowadays. But no! The American dollar is going to much more useless things than these problems. Instead of making more jobs, they lay people off so that they can outsource. Instead of finding a cure for cancer, they spend more money on studies to see what gives you cancer! And it’s not like they even want a cure. They’re making a lot more money off of people from the treatment with kemo and drugs. And the “War on Drugs...” ******** that s**t. In the last decade, the population of American prisons has tripled. And over half of that increase was incarcerated for misdemeanors. They government needs to crack down on the real problems, not pick on the little men to try and make it look like they’re doing something important.

And here’s the best part. I hit on it very slightly earlier. No one does s**t about it. I’m only one man. I can’t change the world. I don’t have a following, nor do I have enough ammunition. However, the problem is other people. I can’t change the world. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to, but I can’t do that alone. I need other people to help me. I’m sure there are others out there like me; other cynical, solitary individuals who’ve had enough, but even then, we’re no army. If people would actually get off their asses and admit that they’re not ******** happy, then maybe we could actually get some s**t done.
