Your gentle smile and calming eyes,
They helped to place my worries aside.
Through laughter and pain we shared our bond,
Which made it flourish to become steel-strong.
Your presence provided me with reassurance,
A belief that you would always be by my side.
I cannot help but feel betrayed,
My own belief gone wrong.
Yet I write this poem for only you,
In my heart it sets a song.
Your spirit above,
May it be so light and free,
To bring you true happiness,
Like the joy that you gave me.
My worries will return in time,
With the trouble to place them aside.
Still I feel that comforting gaze of yours,
And feel you shall be my guide.

This is for a dear friend of mine that has passed on.
His body may as well have been called a prison, but now he is set free. - Date: 08/25/2011
