Beep, beep
The monitor speaks
As a woman leans down
And kisses my cheek
Wavy blond hair
And tears in her eyes
Why, she looks familiar
And so I remember
I have no wife.
Groan, creak
My back shrieks
As I sit up in bed
And put a hand to my head
Two children run up
And throw their arms round me
Why, they seem familiar
And so I remember
I have no kids.
Burn, crash
Some memories flash
In front of my eyes
As I touch my gash
A boy in a garden
And now in a swing
Why, these are familiar
And so I remember
I have no past.
Aches, pains
Plagued by them daily
The wheelchair, the cane
Now the tools of my trade
"One second, Dan!"
Says a nurse in the hall
Why, that sounds familiar
And so I remember
I have no name.

Freakin' awesome.
I love the style; it's a very refreshing sight after all the cliche I've been trudging through lately in the Arena. The poem lends itself VERY well to the imagination. I felt like I could see everything as I read it. Well, I'd say this poem deserves the 5/5 that I am about to give it. - Report As Spam
