• He stands alone
    Watching
    Waiting
    Wondering
    He cannot leave
Nor can he conceive the power that holds him
    He must wait
    He has to wait

He doesn’t know why he stands there
    He doesn’t know who’s coming
    He just waits
    He can’t pull himself away
    Like footprints in the sand
His memories have been swept away
    No anger
    No sadness
    No frustration

    No happiness

    To never know
    It seems impossible

    A small cabin stands alone
A knock at the door and a stranger walks in
Throwing her jacket onto a chair
    She looks around

    A candle illuminates the room
    A picture
    A memory caught in time
    She stares at it
    She can see him
    He stands alone
    He cannot leave
She can feel the power which keeps him there

    She touches the picture
    Softly
    Gently

    Lovingly

    She stands there for hours
    Watching him
    She cannot leave
Nor can she conceive the power that holds her

    She watches
    She waits
    She must wait
    She has to wait
    And wonder
Is her life a picture too?
