A small vessel you come to this world
Frail and easy to kill
But protected by old, and molded by young
To help try to fight off the swill
Soon you grow wiser and start to mature
A shell representing your life
But you are tattered and beaten by your generation
And that shell looks like its dead from a knife
As you take constant hits to your own little mind
The shell weakens over time
But eventually you see how the world revolves
And expose to it your newly evolved mind
So now you break free of that outer shell
And spread your wings so gracefully
You soar to the skies with your scars all around
But show the world who you were meant to be.

This one reminds me of a butterfly. I guess that's the way you express your last paragraph. It is true though. If you life in a close mind, you'll never see how beautiful this world is in till you open up and gracefully spread your wings.
lol I just read your description. I was right about the butterfly. Points for me. cool - Report As Spam
