• I had a very dark dream
A dream where I was in space
I looked down sadly at the Earth
And saw it laid in waste
    Trash was piled miles high
    Sorted by corporate sums
There was no place to be yourself
    And everywhere was a slum
I saw people crushed by income taxes
    Some others choked by smog
    Others yet were suffocated
From spending time in the welfare bog
    The President was a puppet
    Controlled by some foreign Parliament
There was not a man alive
    Who earned a single cent
    There was no longer government
    People worshiped the corporation
    And any surviving patriot
    Suffered complete alienation
Mr. Moneybags kept his belly full
    While others died of starvation
    The only mention of America
was the wrestler, not the nation
I cried deeply and asked myself
"How did we let it get like this?"
And some voice from beyond answered
"Because you lived in ignorant bliss"
I woke up with tears and cold sweat
    Running down my face
With my pen in hand, I went to my desk
    And cleared myself a space
    I wrote out this poem
    To make this "future" void
    I'd rather be an American
    Then some corporate humanoid
