• From the dark the light there comes,
    Hold me softly nightly suns,
The words have burned into my tongue,
Upon my lips the secrets run,
    Oh sinful moon, be satisfied!
Upon this heart the wretch has lied!
    Raindrops fall like cyanide
And clouds conceal those shining stars,
Shining star, oh gem of mine,
Descend to earth in falling dance,
Don't leave fate in the hands of chance,
Give unto me your subtle shimmer--
In my hands it turns to glitter--
And when it falls it hits the earth,
    Buried down into the dirt
It leaves man with one single thing--
A fleeting star, an angel's wing--
It smiles down and then returns
Into the sky a nightly bird...
An omen yes, a word unheard--
This star thus dies a dark blackbird--
    Into forever, away it's flown
Where once a single star had shone
    A thousand feathers there remain,
And forevermore they all shall stay...
The remnants of a shining star.
