• I lost my life in hopes and dreams
    many years ago,
as I sat atop my roof
    watching it softly snow.
Suddenly my mind began to race
    as ideas filled within,
    and I realized the journy
    that I must soon begin.
My hopes and dreams all scattered
    across the field below,
    so I began to dig
    deep beneath the snow.
I gathered them all one by one
    by the time of spring.
I looked at them and saw, by themselves
    nothing they would bring.
I planned by day and night.
    I planned my escape,
and how I'd wear my dreams
    across my golden cape.
I left by morning and found
it was not hard to choose
    between my hopes and dreams
or both of them I'd lose.
My hopes and dreams have carried me
    across this gorgeous place.
And now I stand before you
    looking at your thoughtful face.
    You remind me of myself
when I was just a girl,
    ready to have some fun
and give this life a whirl.
Don't lose your hopes and dreams.
They're worth more than you think.
Don't take your eyes off them,
    not even for a wink.
