• In a moment
    One in between
    Siting on the brink
    Looking over to see
    What lies below
    But the darkness is absolute
So I retreat to my sanctuary
My little island in the flood
As I watch the world pass by
My fumbling brain not grasping reality
    No knowing where to touch
    Or where to pull
    Where to stand
    And where to fall
    Know when to go
    And when to stop
    All running round
    The blender glass
As each tries to escape mortality
    To become real
    To venture forth
Into the realms of reality and forth
A finger sits upon the switch
    Waiting for an absolution
    That has not yet come
    Chaos is the recipe
    In the cake of life
    For the time being
    We eat of it willingly
So we think we make no decisions
But indecision is still a choice
So we strive to escape this mental trap
    But there is no lock
    For the key we hold
    We stand and sit
    Puzzled here
    Its weight reality defines
But the consequences of the time we wait
Undetermined in the quest for the answer
    Of which we seek
Oh the plans of mice and men
    What chaos has yet wrought
    In comical or horrific successions
Of past and present action and thought
    But all despair cannot overwhelm
For a glimmer of hope can yet be uncovered
Buried beneath the burning wreckage of our failure
Silently growing on the waste we used to build our homes
Its sweet aroma calls out to us
    Offering us a decision
    One we must accept
    In favor of either side
For it is a yes or no question
And life cannot continue until it is made
    Whether consciously or not
    It is
    So we consume the plant
    From its ruined home
    And into ourselves divulge it
    Intertwining it into our DNA
Until we rise again to meet the world
    On an even plain
    The battle resumes
    The abyss stares into me
    As I stare into it
But it does not frighten me anymore
    And I jump
