    Sun’s rays,
    Scorch us day after day.
    Screams pierce the air.
    Sounding so tortured, our ears couldn’t bear.
    Sunken eyes,
    Pained expressions.
    Comfort is a corner of a jail room.
    Sinister feelings still loom.
    Leaking gases,
    Fog our poisoned drinking glasses.
    Stomachs lined with moldy cheese and stale bread.
    Hearts weighed down with dread,
    As they drag us to the toxic cell.
    Mothers cry out in anguish,
    As their children go as well.
    There is no hope.
    You cannot cope.
    When it’s your turn to tell your loved ones not to mourn,
    As you are carried away.
    The price we must pay.
    We have done nothing wrong,
    Except insult the government in an occasional song.
    Because of our religion,
    We must be hidden.
    Our time is in pain.
    Our people are being slain.
    Because of our race,
    We are in a constant game of chase.
    The noxious place waits to steal your breath.
    The air consumed with death.
    Your eyes close,
    Feeling like your just gonna dose
    The fumes begin to smother you.
    You’re losing control in the haze.
    There is no way out of this maze.
    Death collects you then and there.
    Your spirit is roaming free,
    But take care.
    We shall a wait to again rise fully alive.
    That day our people shall thrive.
