• White and expansive,
    Stretching as far as the eye
    Can see;
    Flat and glittering,
    Beautiful in all its treachery,
    Sparkling in the sunlight.
    Its beauty hiding its danger,
    For under the snow
    Lies ice,
    Smooth, slick, and slippery
    Cold, dark, and unnoticeable;
    It’s a sly trickster
    That catches those who are unaware.
    Many get away,
    But occasionally,
    It will take a victim
    Causing injury or worse.
    So, be careful how you walk
    On the glorious snow
    Because you never know
    What lies
    Beneath
