• From here she can see for miles,
the trees are especially beautiful this time of year
with their red and gold leaves.

Maybe in her next life she would be a tree,
    standing tall and resolute
over all over the other trees.

Her eyes catch sight of an oak tree,
    it was beautiful,
standing staight and challenging anyone who crossed it's path.

She looks at the picture in her hand and smiles,
it was of a baby boy no older then three
    playing in a sandbox.

That had been the last day
she had seen her baby smile.

A single tear rolls down her cheek and onto the picture,
she angrily wipes it away not wanting it to ruin it.

He had been her only reason of living,
    her darling son.

    Mommy will join him soon.

With a deep, calming breath she steps to the edge of the cliff,
looking over the side she sees jagged rocks at the bottom.

Then closing her eyes she steps off.

    *******

    I visit the sight everyday
    where she had fallen.

Not a day goes by that I don't miss her,
and regret the fight we had had that day.

I look at my left hand
watching the sun catch my gold ring
I had worn for 30 years.

A white Oak tree had started to grow,
    straight and tall,
challenging the other trees and spreading her branches wide.
