"The Glimpse"
Blessed am I today,
For I have seen true beauty.
Not only physical,
But of the spirit as well.
Only a glimpse did I get,
But that was enough.
It wasn't her body that captivated me,
Even though it was ravishing.
It was her eyes.
It was those windows of the soul that captivated me.
I saw her soul in that glimpse,
And in her soul, I saw my greatest desire.
The beauty of her eyes is not to be untold.
They were brown.
Not my favorite color and one I never really liked,
Until I saw her.
They were pools of amber tranquility,
Beautiful beyond compare.
There serenity I saw in her eyes
Drew me into their liquid color;
Wrapping me in passion and beauty
I had never thought possible.
When I looked into her eyes,
Such beauty did I see there
That my heart stopped for the endurance of the glimpse.
Even through the beauty of her,
I was scared.
Not out of actual fright not revulsion,
But out of awe and wonder.
Her eyes revealed to me her soul.
In that glimpse, her soul captivated me heart.
In her soul, that beautiful but terrible soul,
I saw the mirror of my own.
I saw sorrow, depression, and despair
Brought on by being hurt in her past;
But even beyond that, I saw passion.
Incredible passion and a need to feel loved.
Much like my own feelings.
It is in that glimpse that I saw her,
And in that glimpse that I found someone to care for.
In her, I saw a mirror;
One that makes me want to be a better person.
In that glimpse, that brief, wonderful glimpse,
I gained hope for that feeling of which I cannot say.
