• She walks the empty hallways.
    Her mind's on other things.
She wants so bad to run.
She feels the need to scream.
Her friends are talking to her.
    She plasters on her smile.
And they still don't know the difference.
    This might take a while.
    Maybe someone, someday will see
    That something must be wrong,
And they'll come to save and rescue her
    Before she's totally gone.

She wears the smile that's set in stone.
She could never break their hearts.
She wants her life to be complete,
And not just a few parts.
But more than anything she wants
    Her face back again.
    All nice, warm, and sweet.
She needs to know there'll be an end
To all these layers of concrete.

She wishes she could go a day
    Without these Goddamn tears.
'Stead of thinking 'bout how sad she is,
    And drowning in her fears.
    She watches from her window
As time just flys right past.
    She's wondered to herself before
If her laughter might come back.
    It's like she doesn't care.
    It's like she doesn't think.
    Just puts herself to bed,
    And finally falls asleep.

    She's livin' life on autopilot.
    Not doing much of anything.
    'Cause she has some baggage that goes along;
    Her sadness on a string.
    No going out,
    Or having fun.
Those things are done and did.
Just wishes she could go back to
The life she used to live.

    She can't take this anymore.
    The cement finally breaks.
They see how many sobs she's hidden
    Behind her gravel face.
    Her emotions are too confusing,
And there is this rising doubt
That she won't make it through her struggle.
She begins to cry and shout.

People trust her with their feelings.
But she never tells them hers.
    This is the way she lives;
    Her protection from the hurt.
    It's just a lonely girl's tale,
Of how she came to be.
She let depression take her over,
And she prays that you will see
That she isn't 'just some emo kid'
    Out wandering the streets.
