• I’ll never say that I love you
    With the reason that you’re kind.
    You are not what any girl would dream of;
    But you’re exactly that- you're not a dream.

    Cynically commenting,
    Criticizing, cutting to the truth,
    You tell me things distantly, not caring what I think.
    Even so, it’s that single trait
    That I can love.

    An honestly that stems
    From apathy; Only when they lack
    Both hate and love can I trust someone
    As wholeheartedly as I can trust you now.

    If I said I loved you,
    Wouldn’t that affect you?
    I’d step out of this crowd of monotonous beings;
    I’d become my own person in your eyes, perhaps.

    That’s the one thing I will never do.
    It’s the one thing that I cannot do.
    For, in letting you care for me in any way,
    Whether for my happiness or sorrow,
    You’d lose that honesty.
    I have a surfeit of love;
    From you, at least, I'm gifted with reality.
