Waiting
As I sit here upon a bench, feeling like as soulless wretch.
Thoughts go through my mind, each a day of passing time
Just wondering why it is I keep on fumbling. Fumbling
Each day that passes, each of the wretches never lasting.
Wishing, wanting to continue on but each one never lasting.
As I go on waiting and wanting more.
Each car goes passing by and I can't help but wonder why
It is that they can continue on with each days quest and
Still not feel like a soulless wretch, for each of them seemed so blessed.
For all around I hear only soulless sounds, sounds all around.
Yet they come and go as they please, not hearing each dry heave, all around.
As I go on waiting and wanting more.
I wait for a absolution, a bright cheerful solution to this
Soulless existence as a wretch, just sitting here upon a bench.
The day light shines brightly, brightly like a star in the night sky,
but still I wonder why, why is it I'm am such a wretch wanting
More than this stupid old bench! Just wanting, wanting.
As I go on waiting and wanting more.
Night falls and I can't help but feel humble
For all I do is fumble, but the time has come for me search.
For I am in need of a different perch, perch as for a bird
In a soundless sleepy home, home which I can't help but have a longing.
A need for soundless sleeping, sleeping which I can't help but have a longing.
As I go walking and searching for something more.

Description:
I did this for a contest on Gaia where you have to write your poem like how a famous poet would write it useing the same form that they used.
I did mine based on Edgar Allan Poe's, The Raven. Be sure to check out The Raven so you know what his style is since he used many different forms for writing poetry. Tell me how close I got. Thanks! - Date: 09/21/2008

You did a very good job. This tells a whole different side story of The Raven. From a bird's eye view it shows how lonely he truly is just like the unknown man who misses his wife, Lenor.
Nice job! smile
Have you heard of Mr. Raven by MC Lars? It's based on The Raven as well. You should check it out. - Report As Spam

- I'm a huge Poe fan and one of my favorites by him happens to be The Raven. I think you did a very good job on it. truly great. A few gramar errors, but a very good poem.
