I may be smiling, but inside I'm crying,
I wear a mask of joy, yet inside I'm in pain.

I live in sorrow, I dream in fear,
I pretend to be happy, I act joyful.

I sleep in agony, I wake to horror,
I love the sun, yet my heart is ice.

I have friends, I have enemies,
I have nightmares, I have visions.

I wear black, inside I cry,
I wear white, inside I burn.

I write this in sorrow, as I live in pain,
I write this in sorrow, as you behold my life.

I fight the battle, yet the war is lost,
I forsee the end, yet I cannot change it.
