• Description: ok i wrote this in grade four. revised it in grade 5. and found it last week, posted it in a thread, and decided to enter it into the arenas! it does sound slightly cheesy so keep in mind i did this many years ago when i was . . . more naive? the second verse and the last verse i made up last week, and i excluded the super-cheesy verses. i was required to write this in school, so yeah...

A Poem

a poem is a song
that the wolves sing at night
a poem is a feather
fallen from a bird's flight

a poem is the night
when bats open their eyes
a poem is the day
when the darkness dies

a poem is a dragon
graceful and lithe
a poem is the fire
making you feel alive

a poem is the winter
colder than ice
a poem is the summer
melting things in a trice

a poem is the drought
it burns, dry it feels
a poem is the rain
it drowns, yet it heals.
