- So, the other day, I was at an Asian grocery store and saw a tank of catfish. I suddenly realized that the catfishes’ lives depended on just one sentence, such as.. “Pick me a nice one for dinner tonight!” I’m guessing someone DID say that because a net was suddenly pushed into the tank to scoop one of the catfish out. All the catfish were trying to put as much space between them and the net as possible, swimming towards the corners of the tank as if their lives depended on it, because the truth is, their lives did. Witnessing this scene was so gut-wrenching, because I learned that our lives were built almost exactly like that. We, the humans, were just like those catfish in that very tank. Because, just like them, we’ve been living our lives in a “tank”, waiting for something to come along to change our life. It doesn’t matter if it’s a big change or a small change, if it’s happening to us or someone else, or if it’s a bad thing or a good thing, it’s still happening. But, whatever happens, it HAS to be a good thing because something is always better than nothing. To those catfish, it may be a better thing to continue living on with their lives in that tank, but if you think about it, would you rather stay suspended in that one place and wasting time away, or have a bit of freedom, even if it was only for that one quick moment? Because, that’s what it’s like to live a life in a fish tank.
