- Artist: Fallen Love Freak
- Description: Matt enjoys video games and isn't outgoing. He is a chain smoker. He is also behind Near and Mello in succeeding L. There isn't much else available on the character. He had an important role in Death Note, in that he was created to help further Mello's own role in the story. I realize the vest isn't exact, and that his hair color isn't red [it's brown in the anime]. However, most fans seemed to unanimously create the manga version of him being a redhead.

- No. I remember reading an interview where they just wanted a character to further Mello's plot in the story. "His hair color was never revealed in the manga. Regardless before the second season debut of the Death Note anime, fans unofficially colored his hair red or copper. The anime portrays him as having dark, slightly green, while the video game, it was blue." - There was no direction given on Matt, and so the artist in an interview said he "colored it the same color as the walls."

- @Deidara: He's got multiple colors. xD In one of the DS games, it's blue. In the anime it's this..greenish brown color. In the reference, it's brown. There's no official coloring of him from the manga, so all the fans just decided he was a redhead one day. xD; I always end up using red, too.
