His boots crunch on the snow
Pacing slowly up the alley
Keeping his eyes low.
Life goes, a loveless year
Passed by for him
Nothing to hold dear.
Despite the snow in his eyes
He looks up with pain
As the evening dies
Wishing he could let go
Like her
To never know.
What would they do?
Where would they find his body?
She left and flew
But he is grounded
Days go by
His fear unfounded.
Time for surrender
One more year
Crossed off the callender
A pensive moment
Left open
For atonement

- Description: This is a poem about people who find no love or joy at christmas and how to find absolution within themselves. The mans wife died the christmas before last and so it is a painful time for him. I think, without trying to dampen the spirit, we should think of those who are not as fortunate as us
