• Twas the night before Christmas,
    and Down by the Tree.
Dad set up presents for my sister and me.

Trying to be quiet he didn't expect
to trip on an ornament and knock down the tree,
to swear and to curse and to cause a great wreck.

    So my sister and I
    upon hearing the noise
    Went down to investigate
    My baseball bat poised
    in case the clamor was
    a robber come to take.

    But when we came down
    Our Dad sat, still swearing,
with the needles lights and tinsel wearing.

When he saw us his face became sad
but we upon seeing him laughed
    Glad he was alright.

    As the clocked stroked midnight
    our presents we opened
And never had the stars seemed so bright
    Than on this Christmas Night
