Pitter Patter go the feet
of little children running to the tree.
What did they get.
A little drum with a steady beat?
Or is it a board game for you and me?
Alas the shock that comes to be
One box does sit underneath the tree.
Hands ravage the paper but in sheer dismay
For only an empty box is their gift today.
Dad says not to fret
for this is the best gift one can get.
It can be anything you want it to be.
A car a boat or even a T.V.
The parents relaxed the rest of the day.
For the children left them alone
together in the box the two still play
both in their own special way.
