Frost caked houses blink joy filled lights,
as the smiling moon shines her bright friendly light,
All through the land lay boys and girls,
waiting for Santa and his bells.
Tired and stubborn they lay curled in balls,
frosty smoke steaming from their yawns.
“Mommy I’m not tired” they say, through heavy lidded eyes,
one by one sleeping through their sighs.
“But Santa won’t come” their parents say,
” He can’t find good girls and boys if they stay awake.”
One by one the solders slip into sleep,
parents tucking them into their crib
‘Sleepy’s not tired’ they all complain,
but Santa won’t come if you stay awake.
