The time has come and gone
When man kind is true and faithful
We live our lives without a care in the world
Looking down on everything beneath our soggy shoes
The handouts we receive don't last long
For we take, and take, until everything is gone
We rot in the shallow graves we made for ourselves
Where only the worms can befriend us
We're flawed, but we blame everyone but the ones we see in the mirror
Because the world created us, made us what we are
And the cruel god they worship brought them to make us
The children of the night, of the dark, of the streets
The city is gloomy like the water in our cups, but we know the way
We're changed; adapted to our new habitat
In those alleys, we find peace between the shards of ruined lives
Like some unfound diamond treasure, we devour the unknown space in the universe
There is no return from this place where we reside
The devil has us now, and our only home is in his deadly grasp
We're safe for now, with the dirt shrouding us entirely
But not safe from ourselves, or the needs we deeply long for
The needs that seep their way into our airless veins
And eat your flesh with a burning passion
Like tiny maggots emerging from a decollate corpse
But tonight, in the darkend alley... we find peace
Even if it's only for one night
We're safe
