• “Once upon a time there was a village of people who lived at peace with the world. They were a happy people that knew what was theirs and never took otherwise. Always, did they ask the gods if they had permission so claim something for they can hear their voices and always did they get a reply. Eventually these people gained knowledge to everlasting youth as a gift from the gods but in exchange they had to keep the peace of the world as other beings began to appear. “If the world were to fall out of its tranquil state the People of this village would vanish, being separated from the other beings and leaving the world to slowly die out with its inhibitors,” said the Gods. The People of the village accepted this request and soon appointed the title of “Peacemaker” to one of their own. This Peacemaker’s job would be to show the ways of the village to the other beings so that the world could always remain at peace. Many centuries past and humans came and went leaving the People of the village to be the longest living race and giving them the title “People of Old”. Slowly, but surely civilizations finally cultivated around the lands, beginning the Peacemakers quest to teaching serenity. The Peacemaker went from village to village to show the other beings the ways of the People of Old. Unfortunately, as time passed, a group of humans became frustrated with the Ways of Old and they started breaking rules and stopped talking to the gods. They claimed “We do not hear the voices the Peacemaker speaks of, therefore they do not exist. We are the only beings that live, we do not need to ask for what is rightfully ours.” The Peacemaker was not pleased with the villages’ claims and tried to explain to them that the Ways of Old were right not just for the gods but for the world as well. This of course fell on deaf ears to the people and they continued to run things their way, building harmful cities and enslaving one another. Wars began to break out for land and a Government was soon formed. The Peacemaker was displeased and warned the people that the gods will punish them for their wrong doings if they continued. They only laughed and spat at the Peacemaker. Years passed and the Peacemaker saw no changes. She had no choice but to break the Gods one request. “I will ask them one more time and if the turn a cheek to me I will strike them all down for defying me.” The People of Old were unhappy with the Peacemakers words but agreed anyways for she was the oldest of the Village. “We respect your request Peacemaker. We will pray for you and apologize to the gods. Do your best.” The Peacemaker walked up to the leader of the rebellion and stated “This is your final warning human. Follow my words and ways, or die with the world as you kill it with your own.” The Human did nothing but laugh, “and who are you?” The Peacemaker grabbed her holy sword and yelled, “I am Mira! Peacemaker of the world! Founder of Old, Sister of the Gods, and claimer of your life.” With one strike she killed him, starting a war of fear between the people of Old and humankind. The People of Old refused to fight and there were many casualties. The Peacemaker felt guilty for allowing her emotions to be the cause of many deaths. She walked up the mountains where the gods were known to sleep. Getting on her knees she burst into tears, “Gods forgive me! I am not worthy of the name Peacemaker and not worthy to ask for forgiveness. You have blessed me and my people with a gift and I have done nothing but soil it. Please help my people and help me put an end to this ridiculous war. I will do anything to keep this world from dying but if it means to lose my loved ones then take back your gift.” The Gods sleepily rubbed their eyes and smiled, “you have done well on your own Peacemaker, for that we are grateful. We will allow your people to remain on that world for as long as they want. They will relocate to a remote area where they can continue their peaceful ways. You; however, will not be allowed to join them. You will be asked to do one more task and that is to continue to spread the ways of old to the world. As for the war you created, you must end it yourself.” The gods had spoken and as they faded into the skies the Peacemaker closed her eyes. She was to wander the world alone trying to teach the Ways of Old to stubborn humans, was this a task or a punishment? She had no choice; she stood in the front of the vicious humans and laid her sword on the ground. The humans seemed to understand and without a second thought arrested the Peacemaker. The war had ended and as the smoke cleared up the People of Old were nowhere to be found. The Peacemaker was locked away for centuries and as time went by she was given the name the Hero of Old as the humans told her tale. Eventually, she vanished from her prison and until this day the Hero of Old is hunted by many. A despicable murderer for some and a sign of hope for others.
    “Hope….” Seth whispered.
