• Prologue: The Shards

Four of the original elemental shards, were sent into the world to be guarded thousands of years ago. The shard of Fire was sent to the strongest of warriors. The shard of Air was sent to the nimblest of thieves. The shard of Earth was sent to the most protective hero. While the shard of Water was sent to the smartest. From the four elemental shards, two more were realeased into the world. Light and Darkness shards. The Light shard was sent to the most evil of men. The Dark shard was sent to the most pure. The shards all took the shape of a heart. The elemental shards were sent to a new holder, everytime the old one died. A myth once stated that if a shard holder met another shard holder their latent powers would unlock. Another myth stated that if all shards were held by one person, he would gain the ultimate power. But sometimes myths are far from being myths, sometimes they are true. It's the year 2014, the shards have been with their holders for many years. The legend of the shards may have changed since they were sent to Earth thousands of years ago. The Legion, is searching for the shard holders. Someone wants the ultimate power. A shard unknown to The Legion has emerged. The Spirit shard. The Spirit shard was different than all the other shards. This shard seeked out a human, and the human inheirited it. This shard had the potential to destroy the world with it's unknown powers.

    Chapter I: Pryomaniac

Alisa, a seventeen year old girl, walked through the orphanage she was sent to. Her long, sleek blonde hair was pulled into a loose ponytail; her blue eyes were complimented by a hot pink eyeshadow, and black eyeliner. The makeup made her look even more pale than she already was. She looked like a marionette doll.
Alisa was sent to the orphanage known as "Silver Moon Orphanage". The orphanage was for the mentally unstable orphans. Alisa wasn't unstable though.
She was sent there because she "accidentally" lit her house on fire. She remembered it like it was yesterday, the shrill screams that bellowed throughout her house. The burning heat, choking on smoke. She had just barely escaped when the propane tank in the basement exploded. A shockwave sent her flying backwards. Sirens wailed in the distance, she was crying, her family was burning up inside. She was the only survivor. When the firefighters discovered the cause, she was immediately sent to a mental ward. But the cause was very unnatural, the firefighters told her she had put her dog in the oven, but that wasn't at all true. She knew it was something else, something unexplainable. All of that happened two years ago.
Alisa was about to walk into her room, when she bumped into her friend James. He was sent to the orphanage when a dead body was found in his closet. He didn't kill the person, but he was trying to hide the body, no one ever found out why.
James' shaggy brown hair fell to his ears. His dark brown eyes, were wide open. He was surprised that Alisa got to walk around at night.
"Where are you going?" he asked her raising his eyebrows.
"I was going to my room, it's getting late, and I don't feel like dealing with the stupid hag, Mary." she replied opening the door to her room.
Mary was the elderly woman that ran the school. She was in her mid sixties, her silver hair was almost always pulled into a bun, and she always dressed like she was a nun. (Which she was not.)
"Mind if I join?" James said walking into her room, without waiting for her answer.
"It's not like you would've left me alone anyways" she said laughing.
Alisa lifted up her mattress, (which was very thin) and pulled out a carton of ciggarettes. She tossed them to James, who immediately pulled a ciggarette out and lit it. After releasing a cloud of smoke, James opened the window, and tossed the lighter and cigarettes to Alisa.
"You want some?" he asked Alisa, offering her a hit.
Alisa shook her head, and pushed it away.
"You know what happenes when I get near that s**t." she said, sighing.
James just nodded and took another hit of his cancer stick.
A knock at the door, made both of them jump. James threw the ciggarette out the window, the orphanage had strict rules against smoking on their premises. The punishment was terrible. If one was found with ciggarettes one was sent to solitary confinement. Solitary confinement was a cold room, with no windows. The room only had a small door, used for delivering meals. Alisa had been there twice, once because she spat on Mary, and once because she called Mary a fat cow.
The door opened, and a nevous Mary appeared. Her hair was in a tangled mess, and she was in her pajamas. Her face showed fear, and the way she talked confirmed it.
"Alisa, they are looking for you!" she paused and looked at James, then continued, "Armed men have broke into the orphanage and are looking for you. Each of them has some sort of gun. What have you done!" her voice was shrill, and you could tell she had been crying.
"I didn't do anything! I swear!" Alisa replied, she was shocked. She had been well behaved for at least a month.
Mary was about to say something when a gunshot sounded. A bullet flew through Mary's skull. The shooter had almost perfect precision! Mary fell to the ground in a heap, and at least ten men with guns appeared in the doorway.
"FREEZE! Put your hands on your head." one of the men said.
"Oh my god! I didn't do anything!" Alisa said, while she stared at the dead body.
"You have a shard, we can sense it." the man said again.
"What shard, I don't have any glass, or weapons." Alisa said, realizing she was holding ther lighter.
"Come with us, or else." the same man proclaimed. Then he cocked his gun and shot James in the shoulder. James fell to his knees, pain shot throughout his body.
Seeing James' pain, caused Alisa to go into a panicked state. She looked from the men, to James, to the window. The window was big enough for her to fit through. She dashed towards the window, a spray of bullets flew around her. As she dived through the window, a bullet skimmed her thigh. She let out a wimper, the bullet had only torn some flesh, it hadn't penentraded her thigh.
The rosh bushes below broke the fall. The thorns bore into her, causing her to bleed in multiple places. She brushed some of the thorns off, before running to the parking lot.
A wave of heat caressed her body. She had no idea where it came from, but it made her break into a sweat, which was nearly impossible in the New York winter air.
A line of six men with guns stood in front of her. She gasped, she was going to get captured after all of the crap she went through? She wouldn't let it happen.
One of the men walked towards her. The heat that rolled through her body raised tenfold. Her palms were sweating, and a bead of sweat rolled down her cheek.
"I won't let you get me." Alisa said, the heat was almost unbearable. The lighter still remained in her hand. She felt the heat melting the lighter.
"We have guns, all you have is a lighter. Alisa, we will get you." the man said, pointing the gun towards her. His finger was on the trigger, ready to shoot if nessicary.
The lighter in Alisa's hand exploded. Fire covered her hand, but it didn't burn her. The fire glowed a bright orange. All of the men gasped, Alisa stared at her hand. The fire in her hand became her weapon, Alisa used it to her advantage. She tossed some of the fire at the man pointing the gun at her, he ignited. The man ran around screaming, trying to put out the undying flames. He was so foolish he managed to light two of his comrades. Now Alisa only had to deal with the three biggest men. The men all looked at each other, and ran.
The fire in Alisa's hand extinguished after a few minutes.
The sound of glass shattering echoed through the parking lot. Alisa unlocked the Valvo's car door. After getting in she hotwired the car like a pro. The engine purred to life, and the wheels screeched as she sped off into a December winter night. A sign read: Silver Creek 50 miles.

    Chapter II: Defense

Collin, sat in his house. Snow had postponed his basketball game. He was the captain of the "Silver Creek Knights" Basketball team. The team was pretty good, they had one the first few games they had played. He was their best pointguard, and everyone seemed to like him. He wasn't an a*****e like all of the other kids in his grade. For a seventeen year old, he had his life planned out pretty well. He would graduate in a year, and go to college to be a chef. Collin loved to cook, it was his passion. Basketball was just something to waste time. His grades were above average, he was well-like in school. His life was near perfect.
Collin was flipping through an old yearbook, when he saw the picture of a girl named Sofia. He only had one memory of the girl. It was when one of his a*****e classmates, was trying to force her to kiss him. It went so far, he was actually holding her down. Collin came and broke it up, his anger got the best of him, and he broke the kids nose.
"I wonder how she is doing, I think she moved to Florida..." he said to him self, before he flipped the page.
A hour later, he fell asleep watching tv. Collin only watched tv when he was doing homework. When he awoke, the news was on. The weather forcast called for twelve to sixteen inches of snow.
"Damn snow." Collin said, brushing his brown hair to the side of his face.
Collin walked over to the kitchen counter and tended his small potted flower garden. He seemed to have a real green thumb. Collin could keep plants alive year round, even in the winter. When he gardened, he zoned out, focusing oknly on his plants. Gardening was another one of his hobbies, he was good at it. His garden contained a cactus, a single white rose, and a yellow tulip.
The sound of the door closing, brought him back to reality. His mom was home, and she was carrying groceries in both arms. Collins mom was a tall, norwegian girl. Her blonde was almost always in an elegant fashion. Her plae white skin made her look like a doll of sorts. Her voice was soft and quiet, she sounded like she was trying to whisper when she talked.
"Collin, can you get the rest of the bags out of the car?" his mother asked him, nodding to the car.
"Yeah Mom." he said, as he slipped on his shoes and walked out to the car.
The blue Toyota was getting old. It's engine sounded like a choking cat, and the paint was chipping in various places. Collin shook his head as he grabbed the remaining bags, and closed the trunk.
"Collin! I told you to stop bringing the snow into the kitchen! Wipe your damn feet off..." his Mom yelled.
"Sorry Mom, I'll try to remember next time." he mumbled as he grabbed his mail off the counter and went to his room.
He tossed the mail onto his nightstand, and changed into a pair of warm pajama bottoms, and Silver Creek Knights tee-shirt.
A loud gunshot echoed throughout the house. Collin rushed downstairs, only to see his mom's body being dragged out of the back door.
His body surged with anger. Ten men surrounded him, all of them held guns.
"You-you just killed my mother!'' Collin, spat out. His voice was cracked, as was his mind. Everything was spinning, he didn't know what was happening.
"Come with us. You are a holder!" a man said.
    "Screw you!" Collin screamed out.
He had been moving towards the counter holding his plants, because in the drawer below there were knives. He planned on grabbing one, but he didn't have the speed, or the time.
One of the men handcuffed him. Then the potted rose before him, grew. It wrapped around three of the men, before the flower's now deadly thorns impaled them all. The cactus shot out all of it poisonous tipped spikes. Collin's green eyes glowed very faintly. In a matter of seconds, all of the men lay dead before him.
Collin dashed towards the door, noticing three more men coming in the back door. Collin ran; he ran for ten minutes in the freezing cold snow, when he saw the car coming in the distance.
