• Chapter 1

*Oh man, oh man, oh man. My mom and dad are gonna kill me. * Were the only thoughts going through Star's head as she headed toward her house. She had to stay after school to help her friend with some notes that she had missed. *I bet if I go through this alley I can get home faster. * She thought as she ran toward the mouth of the alley. As soon as she entered, she started to get a really bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. But she just ignored the feeling and ran deeper into the alley. She slowed down near the exit of the alley. Then she heard a splash behind her. Then she heard running footsteps. She started running as soon as she heard the footsteps behind her. Then she tripped over a piece of uneven pavement and fell. She laid on the ground with her eyes closed thinking that she would be jerked up off the ground, slammed against the wall, and killed. But that never happened, instead she heard a guy ask if she was okay.

"Did you hear me, I asked if you were alright?" He asked again this time his voice had a touch of annoyance in it.

Star raised herself up off the ground. "I'm fine, thanks for asking though." With that she turned to walk off. But as she passed by the guy he said...

"Where do you think your going so fast?" He said with a smirk on his face. Star was about to start running when the guy simply reached out and grabbed her with one hand.

"Let go of —" Was all she got to say before he bent down and bit into her neck. When he raised back up she saw that his eyes were glowing a blood red color. Then she blacked out.

The next time Star woke up she was in a bed with sheets made of pure silk. She tried to look around the room, but she couldn't see anything because it was to dark.

"So you’re finally awake again. It took you longer than I thought it would've." The guy said out of the darkness of the room.

"W-where am I?" Star said weakly. She tried to sit up, but got dizzy and laid back down.

"You are in my castle. Now I see that you are not yet well enough to do anything. So you are to stay in this room until I permit you to leave. Is that understood?" He said.

Star nodded her head but quickly regretted it. "Can you at least tell me your name before you leave?" She asked in a whisper.

"My name is Shadow. And yours is?" Shadow asked.

"My name is Star Goldsmith. And why did you bit me?"

Then she saw two glowing dots at what she thought was the end of her bed. They started moving closer to then she saw that they were the same eyes she had saw earlier that night. Shadow sat down on the bed where Star was at.

"Because my dear I'm a vampire." He said as he moved closer to Star's neck.
