• Once upon a time there was a girl. The girl's name was Onyx. She was always considered an outcast in school, and she wasn't very popular. She was unhappy, because she always thought that her parents hated her. They never really spoke to her except to ask what she wanted for supper, and since she could speak they had moved to a large house and she, her mother, and her father each lived in separate bedrooms. She always felt she was the cause of their separation. So therefore, she hardly spoke, for fear that she would ruin someone's life.

There was, however, one thing she was good at. She could run. She could run about 10 miles at once and not get tired. So every morning and night she would run. When she ran she felt all her fears, pain, and suffering was gone. She could speak, scream, sing, cry... whatever she wanted to do. And nobody suffered. So that was her free time. And when she went back home, life was back to its normal, drab, painful self.

But one day something miraculous happened. No, there were no trolls, or dragons, or even fairy godmothers, though i'm sure she would have loved one. There was something simple. A card. She was walking to school one morning and she happened to see it. As she was crossing the street she saw it. It was a card that was all trampled on the pavement with dirt and grime covering it. She bent to pick it up, and BAM! she was hit by a car.

No, that's not very happy, but just wait a minute so you can see the outcome. Gawsh. ANYWAYS...... She was knocked unconscious by the hit, and woke up in a hospital. Luckily, her wallet had her family's information inside of it. So as she was waking up and coming out of her unconscious state, she heard voices. They were familiar, but since nobody spoke to her, she wasn't sure whose voices they were.

She slowly opened her eyes, and a small gasp among the chattering voices was heard. As she fully got her eyes open, she saw about 6 kids from her school, her mother, and her father. Her mother stood up abruptly and said, "My baby, she's okay," with tears in her eyes. And for the first time that Onyx could remember, her mother kissed her on the forehead. Onyx began to cry and her father stood and caressed her hair. The six kids are still unspoken for, I suppose. Onyx croaked out a feeble, "Why are you guys here? I didn't know you knew me." And the kids said. "We don't, but we want to. For strangers are only friends you haven't met yet."

A few weeks later, Onyx was out of the hospital. Miraculously, all her functions were fine, most importantly, her legs. And today she's the star track and field distance runner, and she's accompanied by her best friends Aleeya, Dana, Annie, Topaz, Donny, and Peter.
