• Dr. Doc's Journal Entry #8
    February 30, 2010

tab "Well! I thought I'd find you two here!" Lucy walked over to us, a forced smile planted on her face. She sat down next to us, and asked,
tab "So...What's up? What were you guys talking about before?" Steven stood up upon her saying that, and said,
tab "Welp, that's my cue to get out of here. See ya' guys." He strode off to who-knows-where, leaving Lucy and I alone on the bench.
tab "Jenna..." I began after Steven was far gone. I looked up at her. Her fake smile was long gone now. Jenna...Just that one word could send her emotions flying out the window.
tab "Doc...Let's not talk about this, ok?" I didn't comply.
tab "That is your name, isn't it?" She was silent for a second. Then, softly, she said,
    tab "Yes."
tab "Why did you tell me? Why'd you--"
tab "Why didn't I?" she snapped crossly, leaping to his feet. "Because I didn't want to, and because it's none of your business! That's why!" I recoiled back a bit, watching with surprise as she breathed hard, and then, eventually, sat herself down, her hands covering h er face as she whispered,
:tab"I'm sorry." I thought something needed to be said, but I didn't know what to say. So, in the end, we both sat there, rather awkwardly, staring out into nothing.
tab "Has Steven been talking about me? Is that why you're so curious?" she finally asked.
tab "Steven..." I answered slowly. "He talks like the both of you know something I don't."
tab "Steven just likes to talk and complain, ok? That's what he was programmed to do."
tab "That's what I thought too, but...
tab "He told me he was feeling pain a week or so ago."
tab "He's just faking, all right?"
    tab "Is that really true?"
tab "There's no other explanation. He's--we all are robots, right?"
tab "Maybe..." My minding was clicking at that moment. I was beginning to question what I had always thought was fact. Maybe...he was real. Maybe this whole thing was a giant charade.
    tab "'Maybe' what?"
    tab "Steven...What if he's..."
tab "Don't you dare even suggest that he's a real human!" she quickly interrupted. "Because...because you, me, him...none of us are human. And we all...we all owe it to Mr--Master, because without him...we wouldn't...we wouldn't even exist..."
tab "You didn't sound like you owed him anything a couple days ago," I cut in.
    tab "Huh?"
tab "Remember? You were in the middle of telling me something. I believe you were saying he was 'evil' and that I 'shouldn't trust him'." She jumped up, once again, and hissed
tab "Well, what are you trying to get at, Doc? Are you trying to dig into all my secrets, just to upset me?"
tab "Steven told me something earlier. He told me you had something going on between Mr. Powers. He wasn't going to tell me, and said it was best to learn from the actual source. I'm not asking to upset you. I'm asking you, so I can help you."
tab "Well, I'm sorry, but I don't...I don't need any help." With that, she stomped off. And when I thought that conversation would enlighten me on something, it only left me more confused.

tab I returned to my work on recreating Jenna and Steven, but at that point, I was only half way done with just their frames. Progress was slow. And it didn't help that I was alone, creating what few could hope to make in a whole lifetime, let alone two weeks. I began to ask myself questions. Why was Mr. Powers making me do this? What could he possibly hope to achieve by me copying his already made creations?
tab I was given two beanies on March 3rd. All Mr. Powers said about them was they would serve as the new robot's kind of "tag". It had a simple design, and when I read the label, the only thing I saw were three, bold letters.
