• opened my eyes. God. I thought I told Luke if he’s going to have a girl over, keep it down! I picked up my…something heavy or another, and threw it at the wall. It fell to the ground before the girl could screamed.
“Man…Yoshi! God…fine. Come on Julie, fun time’s over.” He said.
“My name is Lexi.” The girl said back.
I have to say, I had to chuckle at that. I sighed. Monday. What was I suppose to do on Monday…the same thing I did yesterday, same thing I’ve done for the week…oh, nothing.
I smiled. God, it’s so good to be out of school. So far I stayed in school the longer than anyone I ever known. A full high school education. I checked my phone. Three text messages. I opened it up and looked through them. Just useless stuff from friends.
I got up. My feet hit the cool, old boards and I stood up. I stretched. I looked in the mirror and laughed. I’m in the best shape off my life. On the out side.
These muscles are from street fights and running away from other gangs. The zero body fat is from skipping days with out food. I’m not anorexic; I just feel hungry hardly. I love food. Fruity Pebbles to narrow it down. It’s just sometimes…I just can’t eat.
“Yo, Yosh, get you a** down here before I kick some color into it!”
    I smiled.
That’s my reputation. I’m the only white guy on the block. Paler than Casper, white as the paper these words are on.
I put my blue jeans on and began to weave my belt through the belt loops. I looked in the mirror again.
I’m a strange one. I’m not ugly, that much I know. I get hit on regularly. I have to lie to them and say I’m taken. Some don’t get it right away, but that’s not their fault.
I have light brown hair and red eyes. Well, I should say I have no eye color. The red is just the reflection of my veins in my eyes.
I pulled my shirt over my head and grabbed my jacket on my way out of the room. I went down the stirs to find Talcon and BK sitting on the couch, whistling at some girl on T.V.
“Yosh! Look at these big ones on the box man!” Talcon shouted.
    I laughed.
These guys come up with a lot of slang and stuff. Some I think are legit, some I’m not sure of. I walked over to the fridge and opened it up. I got a gallon of milk out and walked over and grabbed the cleanest looking bowl.
It’s only me; Luke and BK that live here, so I know one of us had to use it. I’m not worried about germs if I know the person. But I can tell you what; hookers scare the s**t out of me. Walking germ-cities. Yuck.
I opened the cabinets, closing my eyes so I wouldn’t get dust in them.
    What the…
    “Where’s my cereal?” I signed.
Yeah, I’m mute. I use sign language when ever I need something, but other than that I’m pretty quiet. And since in gang fights and battles you don’t want to shout out commands, our whole gang knows sign language. I’m pretty good at it. Ha. I kinda have to be.
BK and Talcon continued to watch T.V. Man, this is one of the set backs of sign language; it’s silent. I picked up a spoon and whipped it in their direction. It bounced off the couch and hit the T.V. They both looked back.
“Where’s my cereal?” I signed again.
“If you can’t find anything we’re out.” Talcon said.
What?! God…fine! I’ll go to get some more…gosh, I do everything around here and people eat my cereal! I walked over to the door and a grabbed my leather jacket. Yeah, yeah, I know. Tacky. But it’s warm, water proof, and plus it’s my only jacket. I opened the door and walked out.
I had a knife and gun in the jacket pocket. Always there, just in case I get jumped from a rival gang. I never use the gun though, just incase, you know? There’s two big ones around here and couple small ones. I’m in one of the big ones. MFDS. To anyone you’ll ask, its call Mother F****** Destroying S***. To me and my friends and couple others, its call Monsters Finding Destructing on the Street. I’ll get into that in just a bit.
Let’s talk about me. My name is Yoshi, nice to meet cha. Actually, I’m Daniel. But I got the name Yoshi from Luke. He picked it by…the video game lizard…I know. Stupid. He says because it never says a word. Yeah yeah…I think it’s a put down, but it grew on me.
I did find out that Yoshi means ‘the silent one’ so there’s a real literal name. I was born and raised by Luke’s older brother, just like him. We both don’t know our parents. Kyle (Luke’s brother) said Luke’s parents died in a car crash. He says I just showed up one day on his door step.
I had a ball cap, diapers and a small tattoo on my shoulder. I still have it. I don’t know what it means, but it says “5 divided by 1 is the day”. I know. Weird uh? We think two things; I’ll die by 2005. Or when I turn seventeen. I’m nineteen. It’s 2010.
We don’t know what the tattoo means. It’s just weird. Anyway, there’s a bit more about me that I’ll tell you later, let’s talk about Luke. Where to begin…hey! I’m walking here!
Oh, sorry, some color blinded guy just ran a red light. Ok, where we’re we? Oh, yeah, Luke. K, um…well first of all he’s as funny as hell. Sarcastic as hell too. Apparently, he’s a chick magnet. I don’t see it. Sure, blond hair, blue eyes, 6 feet are all stuff girls like. Always has to have a girl. Always. It’s almost embarrassing.
He’s our gang’s best shot though. Can hit a head shot from a foot ball field away with just a 9mm. We found that out when a gang said meet them on a near by foot ball field.
We’re not bad guy’s just…good survivors. You do what you can when you’re live here. A murder or assault every other day with in a five mile radius. We all have seen some stuff. Stuff that change us. A lot of stuff when we were young. A lot…anyway, let’s talk about BK.
BK is the coldest of all of us. He’s seen a lot. Most he won’t dare tell us. Every time we have a gang fight us or we jump some other gang, he disappears for sometimes weeks. Coming back with a new scar or tattoo. We don’t ask what he does or where he goes, but we all wonder. Somewhere expensive. When ever we rob some place, he takes a good chunk of our profits.
    Oh well.
I walked across the street to the store. I stepped on pressure pad and the gas station’s doors opened. I looked around. Man…what a gallon of bleach would do for this place…
I walked to the cereal boxes and pick the cleanest box out of all of them. I walked back up to the clerk, sending down a five and walking out. The cereal was like, $1.89. Hey, it’s the least I can do for the person that owns it.
We robbed it a week ago.
I looked at my clock. Crap! I was supposed meet the new gang members at the bay as a spokes person! Man…I’ll never make it…unless…I gotta. I ran to an ally and began to change. My skin turned as black as the sky after a power out. My veins began to glows so bright blue that the bigger ones shined through my dark skin.
My eyes glowed bright white. I felt the chemicals rouse through my veins like liquid ice. I flipped up the hood of my jacket I wore underneath my leather one. I jumped up and soared through the air. I landed on the building’s roof hard, but I was already running to the next.
Man, if I don’t get to the bay in time, Kerk will have my head. Literally most likely.
