• “I’m getting married.” Senna declared.
I stared at my mother in shock, trying to repeat and make sense of the words that just came out of her mouth.
    I’m getting married…
    “You can’t.” I said, matter-of-factly.
“What? What do you mean, ‘I can’t’?! I love him!”
“Senna, you CAN’T! You met him only TWO months ago!”
I sank into the nearest chair. What is she thinking!
    “Silver, don’t be a brat!”
“I’m not being a brat, Senna! I’m being reasonable!”
    “I don’t need this right now…”
“You know what?” I said, “Neither do I.”
I walked out the door and made my way to the path to the forest. I finally reached the cliff and sat at the edge. I looked out into the sunset thinking, remembering.
    I love him!
I scoffed. She said that about all of her boyfriends! There was Jared, the one who she found in her bed with his ex. Zed, the one who took all the money out of her bank account and left her. Noah, the one who Senna was supposed to get married to, but he ran away with her best friend, Abigail… the list goes on and on. And now there’s Ben, the one who tries to get with me every time he’s drunk.
I would rather for Senna to get married to any of her ex-boyfriends than Ben.
    Why me?
I sometimes wonder what it would be like if I had met my father… Senna never talks about him, either, so I don’t even know his name. Would he have saved me from the hell I’ve been living in for 17 years?
I decided to go home. The sun was almost gone, and I needed to get home. I got up, dusted off my jeans, and ran.
    Beep, beep, beep!
This was the third time my alarm clock had sounded. I decided not to ignore it this time and reached my hand out to touch the snooze button. I got up slowly, not realizing the time. I looked at my clock…
    “Holly crap! It’s seven thirty!”
I got up and dug around my closet.
“Okay, I have twenty minutes to take a shower, change, and get my a** to school!”
I ran to the bathroom and got in the shower.
“Hurry up, Silver!” I yelled to myself.
    Slam!
“Senna, I don’t have time for this!”
I didn’t expect the voice that responded.
    “Hey, Silver…”
“Ben! Get the hell out of the bathroom!” I yelled, frozen in fear.
“No.” he responded, right to the point.
He ripped the curtains open and pulled me closer to him. I immediately punched him and he fell back. I grabbed my towel and ran out.
“Senna! Get out here! Ben is trying to RAPE me!!!”
I got no response. I wrapped the towel around me tightly, just as a hand grabbed my wrist.
I screamed in terror and shook Ben’s hand off me. I ran out of the house and took the path to the forest, hoping to loose myself in the trees, away from him.
He ran after me though, not giving up. I ran to the edge of the cliff, with no way out.
“Sorry, but there’s no way out now, precious.”
I looked at the cliff. Approximately two hundred feet…
I looked back at Ben, closing in on me, and back down.
    I made my decision.
