Shadow without a form

In the darkness,
they are there,
though you won't find them anywhere

A shadow without a form
invisible, unseen,
so lonely and forlorn,
like a king without a queen
everywhere in darkness,
and nowhere in the light,
this unseen nothing
may someday bring you fright.
Though there's nothing to fear
out of this invisible apparition,
there's nothing truly there,
just a trick of vision
it's just a nightmare
