Ori's Clips
Ori carefully finished tightening the last screw into place on one of her bolt caster clips. She had already spent a few hours hammering scrap mettle into bullet shapes with the limited tools the O unit had been able to get together in their new “workshop”. She would have given almost anything to be able to do this back home with the proper equipment she had stashed in her half of the room… did she still have a room back home? Or had her sister taken it all over in her absence? If she had that would be understandable, as they probably had assumed she was dead and all.

She pushed such thoughts to the back of her brain though. There was no point to them besides the fact that they made her sad. And that was a state of being she had been trying to avoid all her life. And although current situations made her forget to look optimistic, she didn’t want to fully lose sight of what she thought was important.

Once she made sure all the screws were as tight as she could get them, she ran her slightly damp fingers over the seams of the cartage. They seemed air tight. She then picked up one of the compressed air canisters on the workbench near here and fitted the spout into the back of the cartage. She filled the cartage with air until no more would go in and then took the can out. Hopefully that would do it.

Ori had modified these cartages with a new way to tell if they were filled with air, as test firing wasn’t always easy to do in certain situations, which also cost bullets that she would have to replace later. At the top of the cartage was a little peace of mettle that popped up when the cartage was full of air, if the pressure inside the cartage was the same as outside the cartage, the piece of metal sank down a bit. Ori let a moment pass before picking up the cartage and giving it a shake… and the piece of metal on top sank slowly down as she did so.

“Alavongunavrvasnicta!” Ori swore under her breath automatically. This surprised her. Mostly because she hadn’t heard anyone speak in her home language in quite a long while and secondly because Ori wasn’t one to swear… when had she picked up that habit?

Somehow this cartage must have sustained a small fracture in it, letting the compressed air escape easily as she could put it in. If she was back home, any leak of air would be instantly noticed as it bubbled upwards, making it so she would no to stop before wasting air. She would also be able to find the fractures in the metal and patch them too if she was under water.

She gave a sigh and leaned back in her chair, a kid of odd motion as she was sitting in it side ways to begin with because of her tail. Today she was major feeling like a fish out of water. A thought she tried to avoid because it depressed her.

At least she had stocked up on yogurt and milk while she was out. She smiled, and with that she hopped off to go get some.
