"Adam Kane. Long time no see."

"Dragon," the man replied, returning the hug. I could feel him motion to the others that all was okay.

"Boy are you looking good," I said, stepping back to look Adam over. "Last I saw you, you were still working at Genomex! How's that going?"

"I no longer work there," Adam replied. "They did some things I did not hold with and that I would rather not talk about."

"Very well," I said, turning to face the others. "So I am guessing this is the Mutant X [+1] team I've heard so much about?"

"Yes," Adam said to me. To the people that had come with him, he said, "Guys, this is an old friend of mine, Dragon."

"Are you a child of Genomex?" [+2] Shalimar asked as I shaked her's and the other's hands.

"Nope," I replied. "I'm your standard, run of the mill water dragon."

"You?" Brennan asked, stifling a chuckle. "A dragon?"

"Shall I show or do you want to tell?" I asked Adam.

"By all means," Adam said, gesturing me to show them.

"Gladly!" I replied, transforming into my dragon form. After a few moments, I transformed back into my human form and turned to Adam. "Judging by their slack jaws and wide eyes of amazement, I take it you haven't told them about the magical side of the coin?"

"Only because I myself am still having a hard time believing it," Adam replied.

"You didn't pick up anything unusual about her?" Jesse asked Emma.

"No," Emma said. "I can't read her at all."

"Old habits die hard," I replied to Emma. "This planet's fairly new to telepaths."

"What about you?" Adam asked. "What have you been up to since we last met?"

Chuckling, I pointed at my porch, I replied, "Adam, meet Nogard."

"That's," Adam said, looking in shock at Nogard. Looking at me, he pointed at Nogard, "She's...?"

"Yes, but she's good now," I replied. "It's a long story...mostly involving the girl that was taken."

At that moment, Wynn and Shalimar walked out onto the porch, hand in hand. Both looked exausted and a little scared.


"Mom?" Shalimar asked. "Who're all the strange people?"

"And why is Nissa display screen on the blitz?" Wynn asked.

"They're friends," I said to Shalimar, rushing over to pick her up in a hug. To Wynn, I said, with a glance to Adam, "Because someone's hacked into her system that we need to force out."
