The Ramblings of a Woman
I will talk about whatever I want. Which may or may not include a long list of books, comics, myths, historical happenings, current happenings, and my own philosophical ramblings.
heart I'm back! It’s time to continue yesterday's post about Neo-Paganism. (I didn't do it last night cause it was like 2 a.m. and I stuff to do today.) So yes, once again, sorry for any spelling/grammar errors as my spell check is currently having a seizure cry . Also a quick note on the contents of this entry-What I am about to post is my personal opinions and views. They should not be taken as representative as Neo-Paganism as a whole, though I will try to mention anything on which I have greatly divergent views.
heart Okay, so now that all that's done xd ...As stated in the previous journal, I'm a Neo-Pagan. For me, being Neo-Pagan means mixing many traditional methods of faith and thought and modernizing them to fit and work in this day and age. I believe that many old beliefs had wise grains of truth in them, such as respecting nature, and equally had negative, untrue thoughts, such as subservience of women/minorities. Similarly, I believe that as human civilization progresses we discover and learn more thus allowing us to correct our faults and lies. Unfortunately, I also believe that as civilization ages we lose valuable knowledge as well. To put it into perspective I see society's progression as being much like a child's progression through school. The child will grow and build on any earlier learning, but as the child begins to focus in on certain subjects, information on other subjects is ultimately lost as the brain expands to make room for the focused on subjects.
heart With this chain of thought being kept in mind, I strive to take what I perceive as being best of both worlds, the old and the new, and mold them together into the religious path that I have chosen. Instead of having a defined religious path, I have personally chosen to live a path in which I shall have to evolve with the world around me constantly seeking truth and personal growth to attain spiritual balance.
heart As I do not believe in there being an all knowing higher authority, I believe that I must make my own personal decisions on what I feel is right for my spiritual path. Part of the reason I have chosen to do this is because of the many similarities and correlations shown between so many religions and ideas of belief that exist today. To me these connections point to there being little nuggets of universal truth in the world and I feel that it is the right of every individual person out there to seek these truths out in the method they see fit. I personally have chosen this path of constant searching within Neo-Paganism because it is the path that I believe is correct for me.
heart As for the things I actually believe in, they are many and vary. I believe in reincarnation, the idea that when you die your soul will be reborn into another life. I also believe in karma and that everything in life is connected. I believe in the commonly held Neo-Pagan/Wiccan creed of "An Harm Ye None," meaning that you may have faith in your own actions as long as they present no harm to yourself or other living creatures, be they man, beast, or plant. Keeping with that train of thought, I do not believe in slavery of any sort, discrimination, or anything anti-homosexual. As my view points on each of these beliefs are rather detailed, please take the above statements in the very general terms that they are. I hope to give each one it's own journal entry for me to discuss someday.
