All was quiet on the Gaian front. At least, it was in one particular business. Then again, many charities were quiet until word got around. Sadly, word had not gone around about Dealing Everyone Big Thrilled Smiles, or D.E.B.T.S for short. Of course, the business, donned in blues and gold hues, was brand new.
That didn’t lift the spirits of one person sitting behind the main desk. She laid her head on her hands, careful that her ram horns did not get stuck in the desk. She did not want to have to replace it…again. Her wolf tail and pixie wings drooped in sadness.
A commotion outside jolted the owner of the business up, fixing her golden hair. A donator? A quester? Heck, even a regular would be fantastic. Why couldn’t the Charity/Quest Avenue be as lively as Chatter Box Street? Or GCD Boulevard?
The golden animal hybrid sighed and rolled her eyes as the back of another worker appeared. “Well for your information, those pansies in Twilight are not true vampires! We do not sparkle in the sun!” The worker slammed the front door closed.
“Disco….We want to bring people in, not chase them away.” The ram leaned back in her chair as the other plopped onto a couch, throwing gold glitter all over the place.
“Not my fault! Just because some gold dust clung to me from playing Booty Grab, every n00b naturally assumes I’m a Twi-tard. Haven’t they heard of Dracula? Lestat? Bah….” Disco, full name Disco Queen, waved away, or tried to, the golden sparkles the clung to everything, her red vest, the black skirt, the boots…At least with her crown and Herme’s Moon it was not noticeable.
“Disco! I just cleaned over there!” The third team member popped up behind the couch, causing the vampire to fall into the floor. The third female moved around the couch, her black dress swishing elegantly, not a single chocolate curl on her face moving out of place.
Yeah, what an odd place this was. All three had their different tastes. The owner was changing her mood between getting her dream avatar of black and white and wearing her gold, white, and orange outfit she currently had on, occasionally changing it to another color scheme. Disco…No telling what her taste that day would be, or even in the next five minutes. The third female liked being elegant, be it in a simple black dress, or angelic looking. Somehow they made the place work though. Now if only people would come in…
“Excuse me, is this D.E.B.T.S?”
Jaws dropped.
“Neon? Mis? Do you see what I see? I didn’t overdose on pills again did I?”
“Shush Disco!” The golden ram moved from behind the desk. “Welcome to D.E.B.T.S! I’m Neon Ipod, and these are my associates discoqueen and Mischiie. How can we help?”
The guest looked at all three of them and started breaking down. Disco covered her ears and rolled her eyes while Mis grabbed a tissue box and a glass of water, handing both to the person, who was apparently a newbie by the closer inspection of ratty clothes. When she was calmed down, business was discussed. “I’m Ash. I used to be Ashx, before I got hacked.”
Disco closed her eyes and leaned back in the couch. Neon folded her hands, and Mis tsked. “You poor dear! Who did it? What was taken? And what can we do?”
“It was my ex. We shared everything. Then my computer broke, so I started logging onto Gaia via his computer. I didn’t realize he had a program on it that took any account information that was used on his computer, that he was a hacker. I didn’t notice at first what was happening. Event or sponsor items would disappear. I thought I sold them because I don’t use them a lot of the time. Then a lot of gold started disappearing, as well as my Hidden Ace…” She eyed the vest Disco was wearing, “and a whole bunch of EIs, as well as my Angelic Scarf.”
Neon tapped her fingers on the desk. “Well, that is a lot….adds up to a lot of gold.”
Ash jumped out of the chair. “I’m not expecting or asking for the items themselves, or a lot of gold. I just would like something to help me get on my way. It’s been two months since I reported what happened but…” She motioned to the clothes she was wearing.
Disco got up and stretched. “Meh, I haven’t been to see the End Boss in a while. Labtech X must be missing getting his butt kicked by me. Maybe I’ll find a decent crew this time.” She snapped her finger and disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving Ash to stare bug-eyed at the place she was before.
Neon reached under her desk and pulled out a sword and shield, clipping those on. She clapped Ash on the shoulder as she passed. “We’ll see what we can do. Don’t worry. Stay, enjoy yourself.” She too left.
Mis smiled and offered some more water and brownies to the confused Ash. “I-I thought this was a charity, not a fight club.”
Mis laughed. “We are.”
“But what-”
“Neon is the Chosen One. She has made several charities before and does a lot of work to help others, either by selling a lot of stuff from her own inventory or asking others to donate. Disco is a Ninja Master. She’s constantly changing her look, which helps her when she goes to fight the Animated around town. And she also likes to stalk people, which helps brings money and items in.”
“And you? Why do they go out and leave you here?”
“Me? I’m the Determined Warrior. I am questing a couple of high priced items myself, so I stay here and make sure people follow our rules or make notes of what is going on with the Charity and who is questing what. That way I don’t have to go backwards in my quests.”
“So…”
“So welcome to D.E.B.T.S., the gathering place of Warriors of Giving.”
