I'm a fangirl. So sue me. x3;
Metroid Prime Hunters
is a short, sweet game. I beat it!!! >3
which, is like, a miracle considering i usually need help on at least ONE part of the game, lol.

So, let's discuss the game, shall we?

Plot: Pretty much, the Federation gets a mesage saying that the ultimate power lies in the Almibic Cluster, and you ahve to go hunt it down. The message has been intercepted, so prepare for enemies.
When you're there, you scan a ton of stuff and learn that there really isnt an ultimate power, just a really strong monster. What happened was that the people of the Alimbic Cluster were smart and peaceful, but then they got attacked by pirates or something and that pissed them off. So they built weapons of mass pwnage and destruction. But then Gorea came, and they couldnt beat him, so they sealed him.

The point of the game is obnoxiously simple: get 3 articfacts, get teleported to the boss. Beat boss. get Octolith. run out like crazy before the timer hits zero. 8 Octoliths are needed to unlock the final place to beat Gorea. Watch out for the hunters and such because if they defeat you, you lose and Octolith and have to go hunt them down for it.

There are 4 'planets': Celestial Archives, Alinos, Arcterra, and Vesper Defense Outpost (VDO). The final boss place is called Oboulette--I like it best, lol. there are 2 Octoliths per 'planet,' so you have to visit each one at least twice.

Gameplay: stylus heavey. you'd think it'd be difficult, but actually, no. xD
you use ur left hand to control Samus's movement, while the stylus is used to control where Samus is looking. It also controls aiming. The L button is for firing, and the whole right side of the DS is useless unless you're in ball form and you boost with the R button, lol.
you jump by tapping the screen. ditto for chaning weapons--you just tap the one you want from the top of the screen. The scanning screen is at the bottom, but you gotta press and hold, lol.

I had a hard time because i have a bad habit of sticking out my pinky while holding the stylus. I subconsiouly hook my pinky underneath my DS to hold it up, which REALLY hurts after a while. lol.

Enemies: I was acutally disappointed with the lack of the variety of enemies. The most common enemies are the Psycho bits and their versions. Then there's a few from Metroid Prime 1. There are also the hunters and the guardians. Hunters and guardians are the same in concept. THey run around trying to kill you. THe difference is that the Hunters have alt forms and actually FOCUS on you. The guardians...they're A.D.D., i swear. xD;;;

Either way, easy to kill. you're presented with a nice variety of Universial Weapons to do so, lol.

Universal Weapons: There are 6 of them. you AND your enemies use them, so be careful.
Shockwave: Electric based. Quite weak, but shoots straight.
Battlehammer: also electric based, but of another form. It shoots in an arc, making it difficult to hit with it. If you get hit with it, it disrupts ur screen/visor and you cant see straight, but if you keep shooting in the same place, you'll hit. xD
Magmul: magma based! strong, but shoots in an arc, so it's hard to hit with. fun part though is that it bounces off of floors and walls. it makes me lol. If you get hit with it, you're gonna catch on fire and take damage.
Light Coil: Electric based, but KICKASS. It's weak, yeah, but with it, you dont have to aim. just stay close-ish to ur enemy and it'll aim for you. makes it easy for you to dodge AND attack at the same time. I've beaten all of the Hunters with it and half the bosses.
Judicator: Ice based. Shoots straight and kind of strong. it bounces off of walls and stuff as well. If you get hit with it, you get frozed. fun.
Imperialist: strongest one of the lot. Shoots straight, has a zoom-in function, but is SO SLOW. you have to wait for, like, 2 seconds to reload/cool down. still, very useful on the final boss.

Then there's the Omega cannon. It's the strongest in the game and the only effective weapon on the 2nd phase of the final boss.

So, overall, the game was fun. I loooove the light coil and it pretty much kicks butt. the CG cutscenes are plenty yet short. my very fave one is at the end when the Alimbic natives are thanking Samus for her help. Music was awesome too...well, most of it, lol.

So the game gets....what? 8/10? 9/10? well, maybe an 8.5/10. it was pretty great. =3
